Campbell has impressed in his first season back in the Premier League and a host of clubs would be prepared to extend his stay in the top flight


Campbell has spent 18 months with Cardiff but could be on his way out

Fraizer Campbell is ready to quit relegated Cardiff City - after news of an escape clause was flashed to interested clubs.

The former England cap would jump at a chance to stay in the Premier League and he could be available for as little as £800,000.

Campbell has Manchester United and Spurs on his CV, but former team Hull City are taking the most interest.

The nippy striker could not stop Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side going down but did his reputation no harm during the campaign.

And word that he can go for a bargain price has alerted many to one of the bargain swoops of the window.

Gutting to hear Annis, he could have torn a hole in Championship defences.

You can't fault the boys work ethic and in the championship he would've been a real asset. But to play as a premier league striker you need to be able to use both feet and that's something Campbell doesn't have in his locker. Time and time again this season he has been able to hit it with his left foot from at most 15 yards put but decides to do a silly little dive and them moan about not getting a penalty. That has been one of the most frustrating things for me this season. Still like I said would've been a real asset in the championship and should he go I'd hope to at least get 3.5/4 mil for him.

He is a trier and runs his bollox off, I like him a lot, but he's not a premiership standard goal scoring striker.....

He would have done ok in the Championship, but there are more natural goal scorers around, it will be a shame if he goes, but it wouldn't be like losing Marshall......

Cant fault his running and work rate ..... but his finishing is at times is at best very poor and the lacks that little bit of clinical ability to get more goals per game ratio . OK 2 headers against Man C were good plus his goal home against Man U was brilliant but during the course of this season has missed several chances which could have lead to vital points this season !

Would have a great return rate in the championship and anyone who thinks otherwise is a tool.

But I don't think Ole rates his for his system of football as he has signed Jones, guerra, tried to sign Rossco, Le Fondre and spoken positively another Maynard next season.

Seems like ole would rather have a strong number 9 target man with a number ten midfielder (like Dæhli) or smaller faster striker behind behind to push forward. Campbell us a but of both so maybe doesn't work as either in that system.

I can't see him getting a regular game in the Hull team as both Yelavic and Long are better premiership players.(not sure about the spelling)

15 in 34 (at age 20) in promotion winning Hull. It's indisputable he'd get goals in the championship.

Agree martyn and he will find the championship harder physically and spend most of it out injured like he did in the promotion season

Exactly! signed in the championship the only get out clause signed then would be if we were then relegated to division one, how can there be a release clause if we are relegated from the premiership when we were not anywhere near there when he signed

As the majority have said, his work ethic is top notch but there's so many more players out there that will get more goals for us. Cash in and invest in someone else.

Agreed - A striker is all about scoring goals - as much as I like his work rate, what's his goal rate - very poor

I'd say cash in! Been thinking about his hard working, maybe he burns to much steam. Investing some of his work and calm on the situations that really counts as a goalthief might be a lot better and could bring on more goals?
He's been really good for us especially in promotion, but the Championship is his arena rather than the Premiership

Signed him for about that. It's easy to have a clause put in that if not in premiership 2014/2015 season can move for what we paid for him.

Get rid of all the finishers in the club, then buy a decent one.

when he signed,it was for about the same..not much..and he was dropping out of the prem.the fee had more to do with Sunderland wanting him off the wage bill, than real value.......so the players price for dropping down was probably that he could move on for what we paid to make a prem return easy for him should we stumble last year or get relegated this.......my thoughts are he has given nothing but 100% since here ..no complaints

I doubt it's a relegation clause, it's probably a clause allowing him to leave to a club in a higher division for £800k. Campbell must have insisted on this clause to make up for him having to drop down a division to join us
