Transfer news
Reports in today’s newspapers claim Arsene Wenger is hopeful of making a double swoop for Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
Lukasz Fabianski is set to leave the club when his contract expires in June so we need to bring in an able deputy for Wojciech Szczesny, and Marshall appears to have emerged as a key target.
Despite Cardiff being relegated, the Scottish international has enjoyed an excellent season between the sticks and was many pundits choice for goalkeeper of the season.
The Mirror claim that Arsene has also been impressed by the 29-year-old’s performances and is ready to test Cardiff’s resolve with an £8m offer at the end of the season.
Marshall would be a great addition if we could get a deal done as he would offer some competition to Szczesny for the No.1 jersey next season. The player is highly unlikely to turn down the chance to join Arsenal, despite the prospect of being second choice, and Cardiff are surely resigned to losing him after being relegated to the Championship.

sell in my opinion for £8 million because his stock is at its peak now

If anything is likely to come of this, I couldn't blame him for making such a move. Nothing less than he deserves after being our stand out player this season.

No it isn't for Gods sake. You could easily pick up a good championship standard keeper for £1.5 max and the rest can go against the debt and/or the team

Simon Moore is a good keeper and Lewis is reasonable back up

Even more reason to sell then

Sell him I say, class at this level and joining a top four side would showcase his talents

Sell as well for me, he deserves it but I'm unsure if he would want to be on the bench, though with Scenzy (know I spelt it wrong) he may get a few chances to impress.

If ccfc should be back in PL after next season, we are dependent on Marshall, a fantastic keeper who Securitas a lot of points alone.

I'd hate to see him go but for 8mill that's very good business. Chances are he may never have a season like this one again but he's guna get linked with every club there's no sustenance in this report and that figure has been plucked out of the sky

I agree.
That's an excellent amount of money for a 29 year old and I guess we could squeeze some more out of them in a bidding war.
Her deserves a chance and for a fraction of the money we could pick up an excellent replacement.

So?

I think you'll find that Marshall will be playing for Swansea next season.

Can't see him going 2 be second choice keeper somewhere. I have a feeling we may hold onto him, fingers crossed!

If you want to go up you need a solid keeper, they are worth tens of points, why would anyone want a weaker team????
Sun May 11, 2014 5:33 pm
We will hold on to Marshall - God willing
Sun May 11, 2014 5:38 pm
Well get Nyland from Molde.
Sun May 11, 2014 5:47 pm
I think he is worth more than 8 mil
Sun May 11, 2014 5:54 pm
Marshall is looking at houses in Liverpool. So it's either Everton or Liverpool
Sun May 11, 2014 5:58 pm
Moore & Lewis are trash
Sun May 11, 2014 6:03 pm
Marshall has been a very good keeper for us, very good indeed,,,& if he is to leave, then i hope it to a top 6 Premier club. He, above all our current players, deserves it!
Sun May 11, 2014 6:05 pm
Few players deserve the Ramsey treatment, but when Marshall returns to play against us he gets it from me !!
