Vincent Tan "I will convert some of my debt to equity but not all because the amount is very big. The club owes me maybe £120m and I put in £140m or £150m. Maybe I will convert £50m and leave £100m debt."
The promise was two years ago that he would turn ALL his debt to equity, not part of it and not most of it but ALL of it.
I have stated on numerous times it is important and imperative to this football club to be debt free.
Tan must deliver on his promise to turn ALL his debt to equity otherwise more fans who have given him time will turn against him as well as those who currently oppose him.

Sorry mate but I see this announcement as a glimmer of hope , he has publicly committed now to sit down with fans and come to a compromise which is a huge swing from his past stance on the subject . A victory for us fans
He has said he is happy for a fan to be on the board which is another big step and another victory for the fans .
He is still willing to convert a similar amount of debt to equity to when he first offered it .
He has publicly said the peaceful well organised protests like the blue at every game have changed his mind on the rebrand .
I see today as a victory for the fans

Man Utd have hundreds of millions of pounds of debt and no one worries about them.

Lets see if Tan can keep his word on something minor, then I might see a glimmer of hope![]()

I told you the float was ridiculous and I also told you debt to equity makes no sense. If he only needs to acquire 10% of the club then there is no way he will pay £80m for it, that values the company at £800m pro rata which is bonkers.
I assume there will be a partial debt to equity.
Everything loaned is covered as always.
Castro wrote:This debt to equity scenario still makes absolutely no sense what so ever, and the more the debt rises - the less sense it makes.mFor what possible reason would he ever do it?
Partial debt to equity - sure. But coverting £100m into equity is like a money hungry penny pincher buying a big mac meal for £150 when he could just pay just £6.
His goal is to make money so why give it away?

I don't see how his these figure add up? He says the club owe him £120 million and He's put in £140-£150 million, Does that mean he holds £20-£30 million in equity? If so if he converts more debt to equity leaving debt owed at £100 million, then that would mean he is only converting £20-£30 million? or if he does as he says and converts £50 million, that would leave a debt at £80 million? His figures are very vague and don't add up.

Now he says he will do exactly that.
You cant just demand that he put ALL 120m into equity,
its normal for a club to have debt as well.
As an investor myself, I m shaking my head when I read people here throwing Around 50, 100 , 150 m
like it was some minor things. What a group of financial experts !
