Daehli stays?

Fri May 09, 2014 7:28 am

A lot of people on Twitter are writing that Daehli will stay for another season. Any idea where these rumours come from? Have he said so in a interview?

Who is Carl? :)

And have he said it "on record"? Its a big difference in saying it to the fans at a galla, or saying it on record to the media.

Norwegians are quite worried about our biggest talent playing in the brutal Championship where all the teams are just playing long balls:)

Looking forward to seeing him play after a full pre season, a year older and stronger. The boy has bags of skill and confidence, could be a big player for us next season.Hope the number of games in the championship does not get to him. :ayatollah:

In my opinion, I believe all the players would ideally like to stay and right this season's wrong but I don't think it will be their choice. I think if a bid of £8m or more comes in for Daehli he will go. He still could do with one season playing regularly mind. He's going to tear up the Championship. He's at least on a par with how Ramsey was at that age, probably even better.

He's good but not that good !!

Daehli will be a top Prem footballer but as to whether he will make the impact that Ramsey did at this age is debateable/doubtful. Don't forget Rambo signed for Aresenal about this age so Daehli is already slightly behind.

I'm just glad we have Daehli because even now he's worth more than double what we paid for him in January so it's a win win situation for us :ayatollah:

What else can a player say when directly asked that by a fan?
What it usually means is "I will stay for next season untill something else is proven".

Solskjaer has never played long balls. If you see his Molde-team after the first season, they were the most well-playing club in Norway. If Cardiff keeps OGS, Mats will be fine.

Watch the game contested between Derby and Brighton, none of that physical stuff. We can play non-physical stuff in the Championship IMO

Are you basing this on being at a big club?
You are forgetting that daehli already had a pro contract with Manu, where he could have stayed had he wanted too. So I wouldn't say he is behind he made different choices. It's too early to say who will be better. He has the potential to be extremely good. He certainly very highly rated at united and the fans there still want him back.
The advantage Ramsey has over daehli though was being physically better developed at a similar age. But even he had seasons on loan in the championship before his proper break through at arsenal. He was also at a club with a manager that is known for developing and promoting youth players. United under Fergie had been sleeping a little in this area lately which saw them loose their best prospect including pogba.
The guy is the kind of player that is not happy on the bench, hence why he came here, which is why we could have a good chance of keeping him. I still think we could loose him but it depends on who is after him. Clubs like Chelsea no chance, they have a crap record in developing their own youth players and would bench him or let him go on loan.It could stall his progress more than playing championships football.

Brutal? You must be thinking of 10 tears ago. A little rougher around the edges yes but that will do him good IMO.
ALL the teams playing long balls is also incorrect.

I'm not arguing against you. But the point made was
He's at least on a par with how Ramsey was at that age, probably even better
On that I don't see how starting less than 10 games in a team relegated from the Prem puts him above what Ramsey was doing at his age who was already signed and playing for a top 4 club.

Daehli will play for a team with more quality than us in coming years but, at the moment, he still needs to develope both physically and as a footballer and, hopefully, next season we'll have a great time watching him tear apart the Championship :ayatollah:

I get what you are saying but i don't necessarily feel these kind of comparisons are that useful, You gotta look at the individual player, their potential and the circumstances.
Point being Pogba and Morrison didn't get a look in at ManU at a similar age as Ramsey made his first team debut for Arsenal, i don't think anyone would argue Pogba is a lesser player just because he wasn't able to break into the first team instantly.
Take someone like Scholes arguably one of the best midfielders of his generation, ( but short, slow and asthmatic) didn't make his first team debut at Manu until he was in his 20s. Nicolas Bendtner ( a giant) made his first team debut at Arsenal at like 17, would you honestly say he went on to become a great player because of this?
Bottom line is its hard to say how good someone will be, as young players are naturally gonna be more inconsistent as they adjust to senior level.
Daehli was rated higher than Tom Lawrence and James Wilson but those two were more patient, i.e content to play for the development teams, they were rewarded when Giggs handed them their first senior caps the other day
By the way, if Wilson goes on loan next season we should try and get him, natural goal poacher and had a great understanding with Daehl, watch this video, he scores 5 goals, assisted 4 times by Daehli
