Prem B sides in league 3.

Thu May 08, 2014 7:27 pm

Don't know what to make of this one to be honest. My original thoughts were if this were to happen how well would it be supported down our end? But then I started to think about you, in the sense that if the worst was to happen regarding Tan and the debt etc, how would you feel about watching your club play against our reserve side in a league match? Would you travel to the liberty for what would surely be a very humbling and even humiliating experience for you I'm sure!

Not winding you up, but seriously, how do you feel about these plans? because if they do go through there is a very real and distinct possibility this may happen! :bluescarf:

It is totally wrong. The system needs a shake up. I'd ban the loan system for prem and champ clubs. If you are a top club you shouldn't need to borrow from another team.

The relegation from l2 to conference should be 3 teams.

The money to the top flight should be cut in half. The money should then be split between the other 3 divisions and grassroots football.

All 92 teams should have at least 4 homegrown players in 18 man squad.

Teams in white should start seasons with -50 points ;)

Of course it's wrong ga, and typical of you not to bite
Apart from the financial side of things, what you would end up with outside of the championship is virtually zero promotions as the top of league one would be dominated by the top six or seven prem B sides who cannot be promoted, and the other prem sides probably clogging the top places in league 2 meaning very little chance of sides progressing beyond that league! The English pyramid system is the best in the world. Yet it will be totally destroyed! :(

Joking aside my points are valid and like you say the pyramid would be destroyed. My local team Salisbury are probably at the highest level they can realistically support. With a bit of luck they could make league 2. They get 1000 average. Can pull 2000 on a good day. If the prem b thing happens then they will be destroyed.

The worst thing that happened to football was the premier league. Not sour grapes. All it has done is furthered the wealth of man utd and Liverpool and attracted foreign owners. For man city and Chelsea foreign owners have been great. For others they have been dire.

Think al bit there!!!

I had to laugh at Rodgers today saying that league 3 was way forward. What a prat. If the league 3 had existed 10 years I suspect that Swansea would not have made it out of league 1 and he would never have been able to put himself in the shop window for a top 4 club. Hypocrite.

I personally think the idea of a competitive reserve league is a good idea. Although the implementation of the teams I feel is a poor one. You create a league 3 which will have these B sides but then it floods the league with B sides. Why not have a separate league (as they have now) for the reserves/u21 coming 1st and also maybe winning a play off puts you into league 2 or what ever.

That's certainly food for thought for most of us Ga. But Brendan in his mind is the Jesus Christ of football, and whatever happened before his arrival was irrelevant as he is the son of God (Bill Shankly). Of course, we all know how the original version ended! :laughing6:

The FA are slowly killing smaller clubs one step at a time. First they introduce rules to allow the top academies in the Premier League to cherry pick the young talent produced by smaller clubs for a small cut of the price they originally had to pay, reducing the all ready low income of these clubs. And now they want to make it harder for smaller clubs to get players through the loan system as well as creating more competition for clubs wanting to break into the football league.

Money has changed football beyond recognition and cannot be reversed. The only thing that remains and always should remain is 'When Saturday comes'. Whether you support Man City or Workington Town, the dream should always be there, and this preposterous idea would kill that forever. :(

Gods son did okay for himself for a long time until that Easter moment.

Rodgers son ended up in court......
