' Manchester United set to take huge loss on transfer flop this summer '
James Boyes
Manchester United could be set to sell winger Wilfried Zaha - just a year after his £15m switch from Crystal Palace.
Zaha was a star in the Championship with Palace and was the key player in the Eagles' promotion back to the Premier League last season, scoring eight times in the league - including two in the playoffs against Brighton and Hove Albion to take Palace to Wembley.
With a number of outstanding displays showcasing his speed and dazzling dribbling ability, Zaha was one of the hottest commodities in English football and was eventually snapped up by United for £15m, and the Ivorian-born winger will forever go down as the last signing ever made by Sir Alex Ferguson as manager of the Red Devils.
But whilst it was Ferguson who signed Zaha, it was David Moyes who had to work with him at Old Trafford, and the 21-year-old immediately found first team football hard to come by, making just two appearances under the Scot before embarking on a six-month loan spell with struggling Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds, managed by former United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, were in dire need of a spark to haul them away from the relegation zone and whilst Zaha certainly provided that at first, his impact in South Wales has been minimal to say the least, recording no goals and just one assist.
With such a disappointing spell away from United, it seems the Red Devils now believe that Zaha will never be good enough to make the grade at Old Trafford, and are willing to entertain offers in the region of £7m for his services this summer - less than half of what United paid for him.
Newcastle United and former club Crystal Palace are believed to be at the front of the queue for his signature, but it's a stunning fall from grace for Zaha, from England international and hot property to the scrapheap within a year. Can he resurrect his career? A move back to Palace may well be the best thing for him right now.

Back to Palace would be his best move - can't see how he would be a first choice at Man U - With a new boss to take over.

He got that one massive signing-on fee and huge wages, and just can't be bothered any more. It took his desire, he could retire tomorrow a very rich man. Such a waste of talent.

I know he didn't have the instant impact that was expected of him but he hadn't had regular games prior to joining and wasn't match fit. He looked decent last few games and was the least lazy player on the pitch. He looked gutted a the end of sunderland and newcastle too... If he'd joined prior to the start of the season I think he would of been sublime.

He looked gutted whilst he was pictured with the Palace fans the other day!
Sick of hearing excuses for him. Lazy tw*t who didn't put up any sort of fight just like 1/2 the team.
