£20m Debt

Tue May 06, 2014 7:54 pm

The club had a debt of £118m in January this year and will receive a minimum of £63m (team finishing bottom), plus £15m for Caulker, £15m for Medel and £5m for Campbell in transfer fees, which leaves a debt of only £20m.

Lads, what about the wages spent this season ? You get the TV money over the season, so the club will have had most of it already and used it to pay the wages.

The sale of the top players COULD make a dent in the debt, but it won't cover it. Not by a long way.

We won't get that, but should at least get our money back.

Medel has impressed elsewhere and has been carrying our midfield all season as the only ball winner in it, his performances have dropped recently, he's been playing with injuries to try to drag us up . He's also shone on the international stage. Some of our fans are too down on our players. I'll bet we get at least most of our money back on him.

From the reports in the press the club should make a profit on Caulker.

The good news is that most of our players are young.

If we get decent fees for a few others then it WOULD put a decent hole in the debt - but if we are to try to challenge next year we will need to bring in a few as well. Also, next year we will still be paying big wages to several players who will hardly be involved.

It would be interesting to see the contract situation of the players. I believe Lappin, Bellamy and Smith are out of contract, but think that Gunnarsson, Cowie, Mcnaughton all have a year at least left.

I dont even know where to begin with this one.

If only every club and company can disregard expenditure for a whole year :laughing6:

You have spent £50m on wages, £35m on players, £X on expansion, £X on the training ground etc etc etc
