' JUST TO PROVE MY POINT I CONTACTED THE ECHO '

I have said on numerous occasions that I never ever said the words that was printed in the Echo regarding letters to Tan, as I refused to ever write or email one to support him and his Despicable Rebrand.

As a result the Echo have now retracted my words as they were never ever my words in the first place  :bluescarf:

Its to late now an apology it should of been two years ago. We should now be getting behind the Echo. But truly the cock sucking in that link was cringe worthy. Dont know if all those comments were doctored but hey ho.

You should sue them for defamation of character, I would if it was me, especially seeing as you have a business that is heavily reliant on your character and the views that you put forward

Letters written to the club and published via the South Wales Echo:-

Dear Vincent and Dato,

The vast majority of people are behind you because they appreciate the £40m you have put into the club already.

I would like to apologise for all the vitriol you have had to put up with.

There were people who were pretending to be from our club who were jealous and they jumped on the bandwagon because a lot of people didn’t want us to have that investment.

But we can absolutely still make the Premier League.

We know there’s no investment in South Wales – that’s pretty obvious. What there is, has all got to be shared between the rugby and Swansea City – we know there’s no other way.

But you are developing grassroots football in Malaysia with the Kuala Lumpur academy and we would like you to do that in South Wales.

That’s a model South Wales people should be proud of. It is self-financing and in the future we could generate players and sell them on. We want to keep doing that rather than rely on investors having to keep plying money in.

There’s still a lot of goodwill and gratitude towards you and that will never change.

The stupid idiots who criticise you can stay out.

Yours sincerely, PAUL CORKREY (high-profile fan)

Dear Mr Tan,

I appeal to you – please do not be offended by some of the comments that we made.

I feel a lot of those were comments that were not from true fans but people who wanted to create problems and from those who might have come from outside our club.

We know some fans have taken the wrong attitude. I just hope you can forgive us and give us the chance to earn your trust again.

The majority of genuine fans appreciate what you have done and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We only hope you stay with us because we want to form a strong bond. That’s what most of us want.

And a lot of us are really embarrassed by some of the messages that have been put out there from people.

Success is assured if you stay on long term, and when you went around the pitch with TG (versus Crystal Palace) we could see you were taking it all in. You were glowing then and I think that was when you fell in love with Cardiff City.

I understand if you think a lot of the fans have turned on you, but honestly that’s not the case.

Yours sincerely, GWYN DAVIES (Valley Rams supporters group)

Dear Mr Tan,

I just hope you can accept the word sorry.

It has been a really sad couple of days.

We have now got to show you a bit of strength and unity and let you know that we are behind you and that we want you at our football club.

It was obvious how much you loved being on the pitch after Crystal Palace and being at Wembley for the Carling Cup final with Liverpool and we have got to show you that is the future of Cardiff City.

When Alan Whiteley read out that statement from TG I felt humbled.

You have come over to our country, saved our football club, put all this money in and haven’t even had a meal in a hotel on the club, not even had a taxi on the club. You provided a plane – your own personal plane – for our players to fly from Cardiff to Blackpool.

We know you’re not taking a penny out.

I ask you now, please put what has happened behind you and forget all the rubbish that has been said.

It’s just not on.

Yours sincerely,

TONY JEFFRIES (long-time supporter)

Dear Mr Tan,

My personal view is this could be a sad day for the future of Cardiff City Football Club.

You have been nothing more than honourable all the time you have been at the club, not taking a penny out of the club, just putting in close to £40m over the past two years for nothing in return.

The personal abuse which I have read on social network sites and message boards has been nothing short of shocking, and you didn’t deserve it after everything you have done for this football club.

My opinion on the matter was to accept the change for the future stability of the club, even though I am vehemently against it, and lobby in a peaceful and civil manner over the coming years to have it changed back.

I am a traditionalist, but what is the point of sticking to that if you haven’t got a club at the end of it?

I had 20 years of the lower divisions, for the record it was awful, I hated it.

At times 50 or 60 us going to away matches to watch us get thumped by Rochdale, no disrespect to Rochdale.

There are no more shining knights banging our door down to save the club, and if we keep driving owners and chairman like you out in the manner we do I can’t see us attracting anyone.

Please stay.

Yours sincerely, VINCE ALM (Cardiff City Supporters Club)

Dear Mr Tan,

I think everyone associated with Cardiff City is extremely grateful for the investment which you have put into the club and continue to do.

We were close to administration when you came in, so the sense of gratitude is there and there’s no question about that.

There was a backlash against the changes to colours and maybe you didn’t realise how bad the backlash was going to be.

But what we need to do now is we must all come together, both owners and supporters, for the benefit of Cardiff City Football Club.

Some supporters thought it was a good idea but there was a significant number of fans that didn’t, and I think that we need to put that behind us and look forward and see if there’s any way all together to find a way forward and deliver for you and the supporters want - a successful, vibrant football club.

Yours sincerely, TIM HARTLEY (Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust)

If these letters are real and accurate ? with the exception of the TIM HARTLEY letter :-

SORRY TO SAY - WHAT A BUNCH OF ARSE LICKERS.

We all know its the BLUE, the Badge and the off field Bollocks that's Fu-ked it.

Bloobirds forever !!! :bluescarf: :old: :bluescarf: :old:

Those comments remind me of the so called love the North Koreans have for there leader. :laughing6: To be honest if I didn't know better I would of thought they were scripted by Tan himself.

I just seen this and a letter with my name on? I will also be contacting the Echo about this, I never wrote a word of that. I remember a phone call at the time some fans were calling Tan all sorts and the threat of him pulling out was put around and I did say fans were stupid to resort to racist remarks about him.

Surely you should have complained at the time 2 years ago. However if the Echo will have recorded the quotes and you and whoever else has been misquoted will have a nice holiday on the compensation. Go for it the Echo is a joke anyway. What's hard to believe is everyone that begged Tan to stay are jumping into bed with the echo now.hang on they've changed tact as well. Strange.

So a letter was published in a newspaper with your name attatched to it and you knew nothing about it? It wasn't tucked away in the letters section it was in a big article. You are honestly saying nobody told you about the letter and it hasn't come to your attention until now? :laughing5:  :laughing6:

I ok we believe you.

Seriously I just seen this Today,I have not bought the Echo for years but do read the online articles but I did not see this one until Today...for the last two years I have not done an interview with any newspaper of media. What tends to happen is they ring you and ask questions and then put it into words.
However at the time of this article it seems it was the week when everything was up in the air and rumours were rife that it was red or dead, there were also a lot of racist abuse being directed at Tan which I though was unproductive at that time.
I accepted the investment from Tan because I believed were were going to go bust and into liquidation, I had never met the man at that time and genuinely believed that after a season he would revert back to blue anyway...I was also told that he was going to turn the debt to equity and therefore free the club from the risk of folding and making it a better bet for another investor to come along.
I have attended two meetings with Tan over the past two years and he said he will not change the club colours back whilst he is here and if we did not accept it then get someone else to buy the club.
He also said he will not be sorting the debt to equity until the court case involving Malky Mackay is resolved.
So have my views changed from that week when we were told it was Tan or bust, the answer is Yes, absolutely.

Does that mean you will be taking action against the Echo. There no way should they print a load of lies at the cost of a person's good name.

The problem is when they ring you you answer their questions and they then write the words, no doubt I did say a lot of the things they put down but they wrote the article,it would be the same for the others I would imagine, they rang them up and wrote down selected quotes in the context that they wanted, it is always a risk when talking to journalists, I very much doubt any of them were actual "letters"

I understand not trying to put you on the spot when l say, surely not only you, but all the contributors of comments would have seen the end product. If you and the others said whatever that's your business and as long as they are your views fine, if not and the echo has tucked you join forces and sort it. At least your honest and said you changed your mind.
Is your new found opinion because you didn't give it much thought previously or because you
Think Tan can't walk now. Many have quoted the latter l really hope your not one of them.
Me been part of far to many tragedies to even consider the re brand being one, Perspective being the word and dealing with the gutter press doesn't appeal to me.

How exactly did your point get proved? Surely some sort of statement from the echo that your letter was wrongly put on there would prove it. But all that happened was for the letter to disappear. Very convenient I might add, since the next week a no compromise campaign get launched from both the message board and the echo. Surely some form of correspondence would be available to print or post?
