Cardiff City's two most expensive stars could be heading out of the door once the Premier League season finishes next week.
Cardiff City's Premier League relegation means they will almost certainly wave goodbye to stars Steven Caulker and Gary Medel this summer as the pair have release clauses in their contracts.
The pair of internationals, who the Bluebirds splashed out nearly £20m on last summer, reportedly have clauses in their contracts that would allow them to leave once the season has finished - if a club matches up to Cardiff's valuation of them.
Relegation was confirmed after the 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United last Saturday but the Bluebirds finish off their first ever Premier League campaign against Chelsea on Sunday.
Before any move is completed though, both stars could be heading to Brazil for the World Cup. That could increase or decrease their valuations accordingly.
What other players would you expect to have relegation clauses in their contract ?
David Marshall perhaps ?

No. He signed one a few months ago.

Such bad business to pay that much for 2 players that will bail when a team go down. Especially Medel, who will be sold at a cut prize.

Is there a fee already in the contract or could the club just say the fee doesn't match their valuation.

I'm also sure that the fact we are relegated will mean that the club has already saved a few £m's in add ons.Bonus payments for helping the club secure another season in the PL. Also the squad bonus scheme that VT kicked up such a fuss about won't be payable that must be really pleasing for him. £40m gone in revenue but at least he doesn't have to pay the squad bonus.
That then begs the question with Cornelius, Odemwingie and probably Caulker and Medal on the way how much of the alledged £15m addons will become payable.
Hmmmm.
