' Cardiff City fans demand Vincent Tan returns club to blue after relegation despair '

Cardiff City supporters are today calling on owner Vincent Tan to return the club to its traditional blue colours after a shambolic season ended in relegation

Diehard Cardiff City fans have pleaded with club owner Vincent Tan to return the side to their traditional blue colours following Premiership relegation heartache.

After a dismal season which has seen the club dogged by protests and poor performances the club’s supporters have begged the Malaysian billionaire to meet with them in a bid to heal the wounds which have tarnished the Bluebirds’ one-season stay in the top flight.

Cardiff City Supporters’ Trust chair Tim Hartley said yesterday the club’s relegation – confirmed by Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Newcastle – had been “expected” and warned protests against Tan’s ownership may continue next season if he did not reverse the controversial red rebrand.

In a statement issued on behalf of the trust he said: “A season that started with such optimism is all over bar the shouting with the Bluebirds starting again in the Championship in 2014-15.

“The season’s end provides an opportunity for the club owner, Vincent Tan, to build a new era with the supporters of this football club.

“This means starting a regular and meaningful dialogue with fans and supporter groups. The new season also provides Mr Tan with an opportunity to wipe the sheet clean and build severely-damaged relationships with supporters.

“One immediate action he should take is to announce that blue will once again be the colour of the home shirt and the traditional club badge will also be restored.

“If Mr Tan continues to ignore the wishes of its long-standing supporters it is inevitable that protests will continue next season – deflecting from efforts to return to the Premier League at the first opportunity.

“If Mr Tan has learnt anything from this season it is that he can no longer ignore his customers – the fans of Cardiff City, many of whom have followed the club through thick and thin over decades.

“We look forward to meeting Mr Tan at the earliest opportunity.”

' Fan Annis Abraham was among the loyal Cardiff City fans who made the 12-hour round-trip to the north-east for the crunch clash. '

The 48-year-old said: “I went there with some hope that we would beat Newcastle but the team lacked passion on the pitch.

“Our manager can’t motivate them,” he said, adding that it was a “big mistake” to “start messing with managers mid-season” after Malky Mackay was controversially sacked in December.

“If Vincent Tan is going to keep Ole Gunnar Solskjær then he needs to bring in a man above him that knows his football.

“Ole’s tactics are all wrong. He is clueless.”

Mr Abraham said he was not hopeful that the Bluebirds can bounce back next season.

He said: “The owner does not listen to the fans. By changing our colours from blue to red he has stolen our identity. Until he turns us back to blue the club will remain divided and a divided club will never succeed ”

' Carl Curtis, who has been watching the side for 25 years, also made the painful pilgrimage to Saturday’s game. '

“The players lacked belief on the field on the day,” the 39-year-old said.

“Their performance was woeful. They need to consider what they didn’t give to the game.”

Mr Curtis said he held club owner Tan accountable for ending Cardiff’s Premier League dream following Scotsman Mackay’s mid-season dismissal.

“Tan can say whatever he wants. The fans liked Malky so much. His football wasn’t the most attractive to watch but he was getting us points. I believe Malky would have kept this side in the league.”

He described what he belives is a major “identity crisis” within the club, adding: “The fans are blue but the team is red.

“We are the Blueirds but we wear a red dragon on our badge. Tan must sort that out. We must go back to blue.”

Phil Nifield, of the Supporters’ Trust, said he felt there was no one person responsible for the team being relegated.

“The owner, the manager and the players all had a part in it,” said the 62-year-old, adding that he would not be opposed to current boss Solskjær staying on as manager next season.

But he warned that “red is dead among the fans”.

He said: “Playing in blue would bring unity among the team and the fans. It would raise the atmosphere. There wouldn’t be protests. Everyone would be pulling in the same direction.”

Where did Malky = blue and Ole = red come from ????

As far as I can remember only ole has said we should be blue.

The whole argument has become so clouded and distorted.

Blue = Cardiff City no matter who the manager is

been saying it for months...........BLUE ,Cardiff City,Bluebirds..pretty much unites everyone,,very little else does,
ffs we have a group called Bluebirds unite whose agenda from day one was to oust Tan.......alienating a huge section of the fan base straight away......
i think its only a matter of time before individual players get associated with one colour or other.

I don't get how you can go public and say that OGS can't motivate the players, yet pledge your support for him in other threads, it's hypocritical. I have seen no examples of the players not playig for OGS, in fact they looked as if they were really putting everything in for him especially like the second half performance at WBA and the body language between the players and OGS has always been good. In terms of motivation, I would argue that if anything it looked more like Malky had actually lost his powers of motivation over the players in the last few games. It was very telling for me, that nothing form the players ever appeared in the press, over how disappointed they were to lose Malky etc, that really surprised me.

That still doesnt alter the fact that the players were not motivated in any way whatsoever. They have not had any fight in them for a few weeks now and in fairness nearly all of the last 6 games have been within reach of a point or 2 .
I think Ole is a lovely fella but I have to say that a manager who cant/doesnt motivate his team is NOT a manger. :bluescarf:

The players should be able to motivate themselves in this situation. If they cant then they should f**k off

Fair points and they are all right about one thing and that is red is dead and blue should be reinstated for next season otherwise this club is going nowhere. A club has to have unity which is where tan struggles to understand well if he doesn't understand now he never will

Hello bluebirds ,if you do replace OGS please not Dave Jones, never understood the passion of the club. Watching Lee Clark show what it means to be passionate when he kept Birmingham up on the last day of the season. We had Laudrup who showed no passion we are Celts we are passionate about our clubs.

There is only one option imo. Boycott going to the club. The only way you can send VT a msg is by the club revenue. He will soon wake up if revenues are down. I know it will hurt supporters short term but you have to think of the greater good. That's wat someone should do is organise a mass boycott.

“Ole’s tactics are all wrong. He is clueless.”

Is that the way to give 100% support to a manager then?
