and before anyone makes ny smartarse comment about this hardly encouraging the team, I would point out that there was also an incredible amount of genuine support for the team from a very large number of people who in the last week had spent the equivqlent of one whole day (12 hours to Sunderland and back, the same to Newcastle) sat on a coach to follow their team at the end of a long and difficult season.

Any fan that travels that far and witnesses our poor play deserves to chant what they think. We lessen the blow to the players by making them humourous.
