I agree its a surprising sentance compared to other crimes of this nature but thats a sad reflection of us having no faith in the justice system who are far too leniant on perverts and peados.

Its because he has to be sentenced as if it were when the crimes were commited. The judge said during summing up that if he were sentenced under todays law he would be looking at a possible life sentence.

I do get the impression that they want to make an example of him given the failure to convict Bill Roach, David Lee Travis etc. No doubt the guy has always been a slime-ball praying on the vulnerable and for that i have little sympathy, that said we often bang on about disproportionate sentencing etc for hooliganism. I have a mate who worked with Max Clifford and he said years back that Clifford was a slimey attention-seeker. I try to stay neutral with things like this because I never know all the details. However, nobody really seems to be jumping to his defence. The key words people have used when describing him have been "manipulator", "predator" and "sleazy".

The amazing thing I find about all this though is that it doesn't seem like he's actually forced himself onto anyway. It all seems pretty voluntary. He's simply told a lie to get a girl into bed. Is it really that much worse than what some lads do on a night out to get a shag? Ultimately, it's the women who have fallen for it. They've been willing to surrender their self respect for cheap fame.

It's all morally flawed from start to finish. Does he deserve jail? I don't actually know to be honest. What he did wasn't morally correct but then again we've all told fibs to try and get a quickie haven't we?! Ok, some were underage for him which is dodgy but I know of some lads who have slept with someone underage but not known it until afterwards.

I don't know anyway. It's all very yucky and I don't really give a shit. I'd never try to nail a 15 year old so I guess I can't really sympathise with him!

I'm quite surprised at the sentence if I'm honest (not that I'm complaining or anything) but after the judge gave him bail after being found guilty, I was sure the slimey kunt was gonna call in a few favours off people high up in the establishment he may have dirt on, to get him a lenient sentence.

While the details of how he was alleged to have abused the girl in a whirlpool bath were revealed during the trial, he could not be prosecuted over the incident because it took place before offences which happened abroad could be pursued in the British courts.

The woman was in court to see the sentence handed down and cried when the judge raised her case.
