Giggs’ father says Welshman cannot run Manchester United and tells of how he left the stadium when son came on against Cardiff.

Ryan Giggs’ father Danny Wilson says the Manchester United manager cannot be trusted to run the club, and has told of how he walked out of a stadium when his son came off the bench earlier this season.

Giggs was appointed interim coach at United until the end of the season after David Moyes was sacked for a run of poor results and performances.

The Welshman took charge of his first game on Saturday as United downed Norwich 4-0 at Old Trafford. Giggs is one of many names linked with the job on a permanent basis along with the likes of Louis Van Gaal and Diego Simeone, as the club continue to decide on their appointment of a new manager.

But in a remarkable interview given in the Sun, Giggs’ father has spoken of how his son cannot be trusted with the United managerial role.

“To be a manager you have to have trust. I don’t see how the players can trust him.” Wilson said.


"He's dull as dishwater. He's got no personality. He bores me to death when he talks. He's not cut out to be a manager in my eyes."

Giggs’ father also told of how he went to watch United when they hosted Cardiff City back in January, but walked out of the stadium as soon as his son came off the bench during the game.

“I went to see him play with Manchester United versus Cardiff, three or four months ago. I went along because he was on the bench, but when he came on the pitch, I left.”



Giggs reportedly met with United chief executive Ed Woodward at the Carrington this morning, to discuss where the midfielder would fit in to the clubs plans in the near future. He is thought to be considered second to Netherlands coach Luis Van Gaal due to the responsibility of recruiting up to £200m worth of players.

The consensus of most United fans seems to be that Giggs should be awarded the vacancy, with the Welshman still having three more fixtures to manage this season.

I think that was more about the players reacting to the situation, rather than giggs doing anything. Apparently a lot of the senior players wanted Moyes out, and wernt playing for him for whatever reason, now he's gone they've decided to go through the gears lol, although giggs will probably end up getting the united job full time, I don't think he's quite ready just yet, they need an experienced no nonsense manager in charge for the next season or so, to steady the ship and rebuild an aging squad. giggs has to many allegiances with the current squad, which might hinder his decisions, let someone else come in to clear the decks first would probably be a good idea

Yeah that's true, probably just refreshing to have a different manager. Do you think van haal with provide that steady leadership? I don't really know much about him but clearly he did alright with the Dutch squad!
