So these Reds who Chased Malky out.

Wed Apr 30, 2014 10:56 pm

I think we can ditch the notion that God Like Malky was Hounded out by this elusive red brigade.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay urges fans to get behind 'Reds'

MALKY MACKAY has begged fans not to let Cardiff’s controversial new kit stop them supporting the club’s bid for promotion.

By Tim Gray/Published 17th August 2012

The Bluebirds face Huddersfield tonight wearing unfamiliar red home shirts.

The switch has come about as part of a cash injection by the Malaysian owners, which will allow boss Mackay to strengthen his squad.
The Scot said: “There’s the rebranding of the club and there is getting behind the team, those are two separate issues.
“I have no doubt if there are 30, 40 people outside with banners, they will get coverage.
“It’s their right. I just hope it doesn't detract from people supporting their team".

And in April 2013 he had his say on Tan and the Rebrand.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay puts top-flight promotion charge down to relationship with billionaire owner

“Our owner is hands-on. He has been the financier for four years.

“When I arrived two years ago I had a Welsh chief executive, a board, the chairman and the owner. Now myself and the owner discuss things on a daily basis. My job has changed.

“He doesn’t throw good money after bad at it, though. He wants value for it. He wants to know every pound and penny of what I spend, why I’m spending it and a document to back it up.

“It’s not an ego-trip for him. He doesn’t need the attention – I’ve been over there, I’ve seen his world!

“Armour-plated Rolls Royce, bodyguards, people book for weeks in advance to get an audience with him. He’ll be in four countries in four days.

“He’s building the biggest mall in China just now. He owns the lottery in Malaysia, gaming, hotels, leisure, gas, engineering, TV stations, radio stations – football is a tiny part of it. He’s worth something like £1.3billion.

“He flies in for every game on his private jet, 6000 miles to London, drives to Cardiff, then home again. At 61 that would exhaust most people but he’s not most people.”

The Malaysian pushed Cardiff to the limit last summer by changing their kit and Mackay is proud of a support which came through the ultimate test of loyalty with flying colours.

Red and blue? In this climate, he’s pragmatic enough to know nothing is ever black or white.

Mackay said: “I have played for Queen’s Park and Celtic so I know all about tradition.

“But he came out and said: ‘We need this change to help investment from Asia. If I do it, I’ll invest in the team, I’ll build a training ground, put another tier on the stadium and deal with £20m of debt– OR you can have your club and I’ll walk away.’ It was a no-brainer. We had 19,000 season ticket holders – 60 gave their book back.”

Despite having backing like never before, it hasn’t altered the former bank clerk’s philosophy on building a team.

An understanding honed through 15 years as a player in England which saw him promoted to the top flight three times with three different teams, fine-tuned as he learned the ropes at Watford and now being brought to its peak in the Welsh capital.

Interesting!

I bet you the line in defensive of this will be something among the lines of tan the despot or about him paying the wages and malky not really meaning it.

I liked Malky.
I think he was the best manager since Eddie May.
He got the (majority) fans on his side from Day one.

But he had severe flaws,as most people do.

But the notion that he did nothing wrong and was hounded out by reds is the single most ridiculous thing I've heard.

We get the blame for everything. I'm pretyy sure we'll be blamed for the Ukraine, Ukip taking a seat in Merthyr and Schumacher's skiing accident soon enough.

I'm not hugely passionate about the rebrand but I supported Malky until the end and still support his time in charge as a huge success overall.

They seem think the people that are pro-mackay are anti-solksjaer. It is confusing.

This is not related to Ole..

This is directed at the fans who for some reason think Malky was always against the rebrand and the Red Brigrade are responsible for his removal.

Surely these articles and these quotes go further to disprove a lot of the negative attention Tan has been getting in the media? IMO it looks as though Malky's reign came to an end for something pretty naughty.

Don't want to see the club air it's dirty laundry.
Especially don't want to see Malky and Tan going toe to toe.
If Tan is proved wrong then it's no big deal as he is already the Main villain.
But if it is proved that Malky has done something wrong then all the good he did will be undone in seconds.
As I have said, I liked Malky but I've got a horrible feeling he will come off worse by the end of all this.

In hindsight would it have been better just to have left rather than play it all out through the media?

Vincent Tan is notorious for making sure others take the fall for his previous failings. It's one of the reasons he's got so far. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Malky is flawless. Far from it. However, don't be so naive to trust the word of a man who has done anything in the past to get what he wants.

I don't trust tan.
He has proved himself a liar and a fool.
But until we are in a position to challenge him, what can we do but suffer him.

Any example on that? It seem to be the tune of the opinion, but I would like to read some well argued facts like the op.

Like the fact he said he wasn't going to change the kit colour, then he changed it.

that's me, I tolerate it and will stick with it to safeguard the clubs future but if VT gave us a vote and said I will continue my plan but you can pick the colour and badge, I'd have blue and the bluebird and I think the vote would be 100% for that!

I cannot believe he has used that word to describe him.
