Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew responds to calls for him to go at the Emirates Stadium when the Magpies took on Arsenal
Alan Pardew says he can’t determine what type of reception he gets from Newcastle United fans in the final home game of the season against Cardiff City.
Toon fans turned on Pardew in abundance at Arsenal but he said he would fight on and try to finish in the top 10.
Reflecting on the 3-0 defeat and what type of atmosphere he would get against Cardiff, Pardew said: “I can’t determine that if I am honest.
“All I can do is try to get my team in the best possible place.
“We could have got really harmed at 2-0.
“I think we have come out on a football basis with our diginity still there.
“We need to take that into Saturday.
“It is very important that our stadium gives us the same opportunity as they did against Swansea.
“It was actually a good atmosphere to play under.
“We have the best fans in the world.
“And I really hope on Saturday they give us something the fans deserve.
“They don’t deserve the recent run.”
But Pardew said that the negativity from fans doesn’t help the team.
He said that United need confidence going into games against Cardiff then Liverpool.
Pardew added: “It puts pressure on ourselves.
“I have to do my best to protect the team and protect the performance.
“I do think if we win on Saturday we will give ourselves top 10.
“I will be pretty sure of that.
“I think our focus is very much that we get that win quickly.
“We also have an important game the week after.
“It is important that the league looks at us to make it as difficult for Liverpool as possible.
“So we do need a win for our confidence levels to go there.”

6 losses on the bounce, I think the expectant & impatient crowd really could work in our favour on Saturday.

Newcastle fans planning walk-out protest as bid to remove boss Alan Pardew heats up
ANGRY Newcastle fans are planning to stage a mass walk-out in protest at Alan Pardew's St James' Park 'shambles'.
Fans being urged to head for the exit doors during Saturday's final home game of the season against Cardiff to show their disgust at the club's worst top flight run for 27 years.
Former midfielder Rob Lee is furious at the current crisis and insists 'selling club' Newcastle are going backwards under Pardew following an abject 3-0 defeat at Arsenal.
“If you can see your club progressing, fine, but they can see no progress whatsoever. They can see the club going backwards”

Toon are paying the price for failing to replace Yohan Cabaye following the France midfielder's £20m January move to Paris St Germain.
They've lost their last six games to put their target of a top 10 finish under threat, scoring just one goal in that depressing run.
The demand for Pardew to be sacked intensified after the tame Emirates surrender that leaves Newcastle second-bottom in the 2014 form table.
Previous planned protests this season have so far fallen flat. But support is growing for a mass walk-out at the 60-minute mark during the game this weekend.

Influential fans website nufc.com revealed: "Given the team's current rate of implosion, even sticking around for an hour might be beyond the call of duty.
Alan Pardew insists Newcastle will be active in the transfer market this summer
"The lack of unity is glaringly evident and mirrors the fractured relationship between manager and fans. There's a clear need for a figurehead at this club to restore some self-respect, organisation and belief. That man is not Alan Pardew."
None of the Newcastle players stopped to talk to the media after Monday's defeat.
Dan Gosling was quoted on the club's official website, but his words were met with disbelief by most fans.
The midfielder said: "On Saturday we need 50,000 at St James' Park and we need them all supporting us. We need the win and we'll go all out to try and get that victory to send them home happy.
"It's a massive game, it's our cup final. It's probably their's as well, if they don't win I think they're down. We know that and they know that, plus they'll know St James' Park is not an easy place to come to."
Rob Lee, NewcastleSELLING CLUB: Rob Lee is angry with Newcastle's transfer strategy [GETTY]
Former England international Lee made almost 400 Newcastle appearances in a decade at the club from 1992 and said: "If you can see your club progressing, fine, but they can see no progress whatsoever. They can see the club going backwards.
"Alan Pardew has got the club comfortably in mid-table, but our performances from the start of this year have been dreadful - relegation material.
"No-one knows what's going on. It's shambolic. The way it's going it'll be a relegation battle next season if they don't start bringing in a few players.
"The sale of Cabaye was huge. Newcastle fans now have got to accept they're a selling club. In the 90s when I was playing and we had big names and we could compete with everybody but we've fallen a long way from that."

things really aren't right at Newcastle, its just a shame we didn't have 32 points right now, so that we could really take advantage
