Ole must stay........

Mon Apr 28, 2014 5:00 pm

......if we go down.

If, however, we manage to win our last 2 games and stay up, THEN we need a new manager.

Sack him for keeping us up (his only target) or keep him for relegating us (the one thing he wasn't supposed to do). Makes sense...

I think he might be good enough to get us up from the Championship. I'm not convinced he can keep us in the Premier League again

So what happens if we get promoted first season? Sack him after getting us up because he won't be good enough to keep us up?

If we somehow by a miracle stay up, he should be given a transfer window to build a squad worthwhile of staying up.

If we go down, he should be given a transfer window to build a squad worthwhile of coming up.

He should be given no transfer windows to build any squad with any Premier League or Championship side until he proves himself in the lower leagues.

He's proven to be tactically clueless with us, there's no doubt about that - and in the one transfer window he's been given so far he made one good signing - Daehli - and he's for the future, not someone to keep us in the Premier League now.

Fabio too, maybe, is looking like he can improve and eventually be a decent player for us. But no guarantees there.

Jones, Eikrem, Berget, and particularly Zaha were horrendous signings for a team fighting to stay in the Premier League. So why the hell should he be trusted with another budget?

How is 29 days enough to assemble a squad worthy of staying up? Not to mention he had to evaluate his squad in even shorter time in making the right/wrong choices on who to buy or not? What is the obsession with learning in the lower leagues as well, plenty of British managers have proved themselves in the lower leagues and then failed in the biggest league of them all.

He's far from tactically clueless as well, masterminding a win over a top 10 side away from home is something that should not be overlooked.

You act like they were Ole's main targets, I'm sure that Ole tried his best to convince PL proven players to join us but couldn't after the turmoil the club was in, the budget he had.

Firstly, as much as I disagree with almost every point you ever make, I respect that you can actually debate with your replies rather than just trolling when people disagree with you like some people on here. Anyway back to the point...

The amount of days he had doesnt matter, he still chose to buy players like Zaha and Jones who are clearly not the fighters you need for a relegation battle. More like luxury players in a team doing well.

Also, how he didnt know Berget and Eikrem werent ready after working with them before is shocking. Why bring them in if he didnt intend on using them?

The Southampton result was good but a one off - heavy defeats to teams near the bottom tell more of a story.

He just seems totally out of his depth in my opinion.

I disagree on the assumption that the days he had doesn't matter, say he came in November or even the start of December, he would have had more time to evaluate his squad and rid of players he didn't think were good enough. He would have also had more time to identify targets and attempt to tie up deals even before the Jan window started. The Jan window had already started and teams made minimal moves, I'm not sure how much was spent but I don't think too much was spent in January or at least on a whole. I feel that Jones is heavily criticised on here despite being a player that is used as a physical presence and shouldn't be expected to be a 'hard working player'. It matters on how much time he had, agents can mug the club off and so can clubs in an attempt to get the best deal or let's say the most overrpriced deal they can get for their club. I'm sure Ole was on a significantly lower budget that we'd have expected.

I can't really explain the Berget and Eikrem signing to be honest other than they could compete in the Championship. He knew he could get a cheap deal and the squad hadn't any depth so they may have just been back-up options. But it is hard for a manager to conduct business especially when you're down at the bottom. Not many can sell a club and persuade them to join. You'd rather sit on the fringes of your current club and wait for a summer move rather than have a real possibility of playing in a lower division.

Consistency and momentum or the lack of it has been our problem under Ole, but that also happened under the previous manager, we've never won two games on the bounce.
