Cardiff City must not feel sorry for themselves says Don Cowie
Cardiff midfielder Don Cowie has urged his teammates not to be discouraged after dropping to the bottom of the Premier league.
The Bluebirds are now two points adrift of possible safety following Sunday's 4-0 loss against relegation rivals Sunderland.
Cardiff face Newcastle and Chelsea in their two remaining matches.
"We can't feel sorry for ourselves. We've got six points to play for," said Cowie.
"If we can get the points who knows what can happen."
Cardiff had a strong penalty claim turned down before Sunderland took the lead at the Stadium of Light.
And the Black Cats' second came in controversial circumstances when referee Phil Dowd gave a penalty and sent-off defender Juan Cala for a foul on Connor Wickham.
Dowd initially played the advantage but, when Wickham failed to capitalise, awarded the home side a penalty and showed a red card to Cala.
Cardiff were furious at the decision, but Fabio Borini kept his nerve to slot home the spot-kick.
Cowie said the players were not focused on the controversial decisions.
"It's just the ref's decision," he said.
"There's not much we can do about it. We've got to accept it and move on.
"The boys went out second half. Worked hard. It's hard when you've only got 10 men.
"You're going to leave yourself open and it's disappointing for the result to end up as 4-0.
"I'm sure we'll dust ourselves down and when we come back in we'll make sure we are ready for the next game.
"All we can do is go into it and make sure we give it our all.
"They've been struggling a wee bit lately, Newcastle, so hopefully we can get three points."

There is a time to say enough is enough and admit we got it all wrong else if you don't do that you lose all respect.

I agree, I've had enough of 'this game is a must win game' - time to call it a day.

Says the guy who has been posting a topic of predictions for the past few months, which have nearly all said Cardiff to be relegated...

Still playing though
we havent won the games I personally thought we would win
no bother im not a football manager
doesnt mean it cant be done
your attempts at cheap snipes at people is cringeworthy
basically all I do is halfway through the season I reverse all the results from the first half of the season its not an exact science but in my opinion it gives a reasonable idea of what may happen.
At the start I had us safe, real results have seen my predictions drop, as my predictions never change.
Thats not to say I want to through the towel in with two games to go
you are boring.

Time to face up to reality...it's gone and trying to sound positive off the pitch while getting stuffed on the pitch, the only place where it matters, is now ludicrous.

I honestly think the rot set in back when we were at Selhurst Park, that is the sort of players we have that they seem to use off field events as an excuse even before a ball is kicked.... You have strong minded players like Marshall that'll battle on but will get dragged down by the weak character of the squad in general.

I would go back to the midweek game at Stoke, they were there for the taking and Malky got the team to sit there happy to get a 0-0 at a team who were really down and struggling at the time. That performance made me really angry and sumned up our whole philosophy under Malky. I argued with the blind followers on here what an opportunity we had blown, especially if we then go to Palace and lose and hey, we did just that.

Yeah of course, I completely forgot about that game(I wonder why) My lad said to me how can Malky motivate his team when he looks lost

We can do it! Don Cowie demanding positivity at Cardiff for relegation run-in
DON COWIE has told his Cardiff team-mates not to give up hope of staying in the Premier League.
The Bluebirds look doomed after a 4-0 thumping at fellow strugglers Sunderland on Sunday that sent them to the bottom of the table.
Cardiff are now two points adrift of safety, but have just two more matches to save themselves from an immediate return to the Championship.
They take on Newcastle on Saturday before finishing their season with a home game against potential champions Chelsea.
But Scottish midfielder Cowie said: "There's still two games to play and six points to play for. If we can get them, who knows what could happen.
"We lick our wounds and get on with it. There's no point in feeling sorry for ourselves because there is simply no time for us to do so.
"We get on with it and focus on two massive games ahead, we've got to try and get maximum points."
