A forum for all things Cardiff City

Coventry have done it, in different circumstances but if fans are discontent with the club right now and hate paying large sums of money into the club then make a one off payment and become an away fan like Coventry fans have done. No reason why we can't sell out allocations next season if we took this approach

Why? You have been lovin Tan all season, why the change dude?

No dig at all intended as I don't know what Coventry's position is (I have a mate who supports them so I could ask him I guess!) I also heard on the radio yesterday that some fans are watching the game from viewpoints around the stadium without actually paying money to go in the stadium.
But is boycotting games working for them?

I'm not changing, I'm a laid back fan and don't mind what goes on, just go for the surrounding of my mates and like watching City but plenty of fans are moaning and feel a divine right etc. Just feel if they don't love the club as much as they do but still wanna see us, should put in as little money as possible and hit Tan where it hurts him the most.

Not at all, they started off the season well but I think they're mid-table or near the relegation zone. With our stadium we're not in a position of that but just imagine being like Leeds in terms of selling out allocations each week

Coventry's situation is different. Their owners and the City Council, who own the Ricoh, are in dispute, over the rent paid, which was very high. That's why they are playing their 'home' games at Northampton, about 35 miles away. The fans had a campaign to 'keep Coventry in Cov', which was, so far, unsuccessful. So now they don't go to 'home' games, but turn out in force for aways. They still support the club, but not in exile.
Some do turn up to Sixfields, and watch from the hills that surround the stadium.
A mate of mine, who supports Coventry, keeps me up to date. They also had ten points deducted this season for financial reasons.
Other clubs have played their games at other grounds. Charlton, The Gas, and Newport are examples.
Back to us. Asking fans to boycott games is a very big demand. It goes very much against the grain of supporting CCFC through thick and thin. We have had unpopular owners and chairmen before. They come and go, as players do. Only the fans remain.
We are in a difficult situation. Some will just give up going, as fans have always done, although some high profile boycotters now say that they will never return. Are they still fans, or have they moved on?mOthers will go, support the team, but not the owners. There is nothing new under the sun.
There was some publicity recently about Lazio fans boycotting a game. Very successfully, the stadium was practically empty. They have also had protests. The Ultras there are serious, (not like the Palace impostors), can organise on a large scale, and have political clout. But, so far, Claudio Lotito, the chairman, is still there.
Personally, I would never boycott. Like I said, goes against the grain. Supporting Cardiff City is very important to me. We can show our opposition to events in other ways.

If we were to boycott now it would be plastic imo
Fans attending in the prem but boycotting in the championship

How about boycotting the first halves of games and then entering the stadium at half time.
It would make a huge statement to VT and the media, still enable you to support the team, and hit the club hard with loss of revenues in the food kiosks.
