I don't buy a programme most games so don't know exactly how many they brought to us. Have done a bit of searching online but can't find out. Can anyone help please?

1,600, I honestly thought they would bring more as they use to have a massive away following, plus they get 40,000 home crowds.

Cheers Annis. I did search a bit, but when looking for 'Sunderland Away Attendance 2013 2014' it was removing certain words from the results so had 97 pages to search through!
Yeah I thought they'd of brought more as well. Just reading some of the comments on there forum about us 'only' taking 1500 for a midday kick off on sky, when we got the Geordies a week later.
Thanks mate

I think our support this weekend is great considering he times. Sure the prices help, but finding motivation to get up at 2am for a 600 mile round trip is difficult. If the game was a Saturday 3pm kickoff I think we'd have sold our whole allocation and more. If it was a Saturday 5pm kick off we would have sold even more IMO, at least 2000

The time of the game is playing a big part. Leaving at 3am + some just don't have the money

To be fair to Sunderland, it was a late kick off on the Saturday between Christmas and New Year. Practically a night game. Think they had two away games in a couple of days. The other was Everton!

Their supports not's so great, i can remember them bringing about a hundred fans at a push, 1978 if memory serves me correct, same with all these so called big teams, remember Newcastle, bringing no fan's for a night match, Leeds , Man city couple hundred early eighties and they only dropped a division, what would their support be like if they was in the wilderness for twenty years?
