I'm afraid there is no cheap way, either pay the 100 on quid to upgrade or simply buy a new pc/laptop with the operating system already installed.

Windows 7 is the best by a mile but they are trying to phase it out.

Windows 8 is not user friendly and if you aren't patient stay well clear, it can become infuriating. Also, if you plan on playing games on it, I've spent loads of money on games that Windows 8 fails to play even though it says it is the 'preferred operating system'.

yes 8 is awfull to use but if anyone has 8 they can download classic shell, it is an interface that is easier to use than win 8! i went back to 7 as had old discs couldnt get on with 8, xp is hard to replace because it generally means pc is old and not got capacity to expand cheaply.

Windows 7 is the best, you can easily download a fully working cracked copy off kickass torrents or pirate bay. Find the USB version or if ur savvy enough convert a windows 7 ISO into USB format. If none of this makes sense then £70-£100 for a official copy.

Do the above - if you fancy halving your pcs life.

windows 8 is a nightmare and the 8.1 update even worse, windows 7 is by far the better of the two,I am on 8 on my laptop but use classic shell to make it look like 7 but still hate it,all my desktops are w7 which I find very good,w8 was designed for touchscreen so unless you have tc stick with 7. :bluescarf:

Nothing aron with Windows 8 for me. Hated it when I first had it but you don't need to use the new tile layout. You can still use the classic desktop view
