Moyes was a fool to himself. ferguson apparantly pleaded with him not to oust the backroom staff to keep continuity as the players liked being coached by rene but moyes swept everybody out and replaced them making himself instantly unpopular with the squad.
reminds me of when souness dismantled the legendary boot room at anfield and look how many years liverpool were in the title wilderness for.
His two major transfer signings were last minute panic buys neither of whom fit into the utd style of play. no wonder the glazers did not want to trust him with a fortune in the summer.

I suddenly feel quit old! Remember Man Utd being relegated, and playing us at Ninian Park. They were in division two with us in 74/75. They had a few managers over the years.

Spot on, yes the squad he inherited wasnt the best but it was a title winning squad and he spent, about 100m to add to that squad, no way should they be where they are.
Everton have now gone on and improved. Moyes will never be more than a midtable prem manager.

Ferguson did a job on him , left him with a substandard squad of players , knew what he was doing by retiring when he did ! although do agree it was always gonna end abruptly as he not good enough plus he has no charisma . :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Which of Man U's first team would get into Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea or Arsenal's first team?

Exactly, two players and they still wouldn't get into Liverpool's team.

David Moyes sacked: Louis van Gaal and Carlo Ancelotti head managerial wish list as Manchester United opt for experience

Manchester United are determined to recruit an experienced manager to succeed David Moyes, with Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal and Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti their top targets tonight.

United are prepared to move for a younger manager – Atletico Madrid’s 43-year-old Diego Simeone – if neither 54-year-old Ancelotti nor Van Gaal, aged 62, can be secured. But Van Gaal seems willing to make the move and United appear satisfied that he could give them three clear weeks of his attention before turning to World Cup commitments.

United do not consider Ryan Giggs, who was put in temporary charge on Tuesday, to be anything more than a temporary appointment. It is understood that the future composition of the backroom staff depends on the new manager’s wishes and there are no guarantees for Giggs, who has been appointed caretaker manager for Saturday’s home match against Norwich City. He could still walk away from the club this summer.

That was moyes biggest mistake lost the dressing room straight away but it's no different to any other club and that goes to show the egos of the playing squad at united as well

However there are a lot of people at united not just the players who need to take a long hard look at themselves

If our boys out in the lack of effort that 95% of the united squad have this season we'd boo them off the pitch every week moyes shouldn't be the one to shoulder all the blame

He'll be at spurs or Swansea next season IMO
