Since a lot of PL relegated teams

Mon Apr 21, 2014 6:27 pm

Usually struggle when back in the Championship ala Sheff Utd, Wolves, Leeds Utd, Forest, Birmingham etc etc, will you be happy for Cardiff to consolidate next season and finish mid table in the championship and re establish ourselves in the league for 2 or 3 years, with maybe a 3 - 5 year plan to get back into the big league with the big clubs :bluescarf: :old: :bluescarf:

For the sake of the future of the club and scale of debt we are in we had better do a Newcastle or west brom

If it wasn't for that I'd accept consolidation but we can't wait 5 years, I'm not sure whether we're gonna throw the book at it and just spend a shit load of money again next season or go with what we've got

Think the three who drop will return .

Agreed

The money gap is increasing year on year.

Even getting relegated, once the vultures have picked off the best few players we'd have a good amount to rebuild and go straight back up

Ok I got one. You know when we stay up this season, and win the league next season, who do you think we will sign for the champs league the following season? hypothetically of course. Personally I would like to sign Diego Costa up top, maybe playing off Ibra, kroos and Ribery in midfield, and carvalho as a DM, maybe chuck a cheeky bid in for courtois, and I like munian. We could do with strengthening at the back as well, possibly Cahill to go with caulker, dani alves is looking for a move to.

I'm not sure if the record gets in teams heads though, the bounce back ability isn't something that happens in the Championship and they rarely return their first season. Although the parachute payments we have now may guide us to a play-off spot once we rid ourselves of the deadwood

Agreed IMO the squad we are left with after the expected big names leave will still be good enough with a few additions I also believe the players who are within the squad from this season should we go down will be far more conditioned and street wise for the Championship.

The only team in the top ten of the championship who has not been in thebChampionship is Brighton and all three of the relegated sides last season are in the top ten and if reading win their game in hand will be in the top 6.

We get like another £50mil than they got too. If Ole and can keep the bulk of the squad he wants, lose the excess (Taylor, Velikonja etc) then we should be ok.

can see us coming right back up - but it depends on who we lose and who we pick up.

Could also see another raid in Norway ;)

Wouldn't mind looking at this kid regardless

Play offs for all the relegated teams imo, whichever one spends best and has the best manager will be autos.

Nah Alves is overrated. Rather we try a cheeky bid for Lahm or Alaba. And also get Eliaquim Malanga to partner Caulker

Can't believe in butchered my own post. Only team in the current championship top ten who hasn't been in the prem is Brighton arg.

Yeah I'd agree. No reason why the three who are relegated can't come back up.

Campbell got 7 in 12 despite not being fit for 3-4 and playing in Malky's defensive team.

The city will need to get back up straight away with the debts we got otherwise we are up shit creek

Cardiff have been up shit creek financially for about thirty years now yet always seem to keep going.

Not with this amount of debt though have they and the gap between the premiership and championship will only get bigger won't it

Look, I don't mean to shit on your chips here, but if you go down, next season you will receive just £15m in parachute payments. This will not even cover your wages unless you more or less strip your squad to it's bare bones. There will be no money to bring people in unless you expect Tan to get you even further in debt!

Totally agree Steve, we need to come straight back up if we go down.

Who will go if we get relegated.....Possibly Marshall, Caulker, Cala, Medel, Mutch maybe Daehli. Zaha will be gone regardless and maybe others...I'm not sure if the team left would be good enough to go straight back up. Would need to be massively strengthened.

Its not hypothetical, we've been down for about a month now and I'm a pretty optomistic bloke most of the time.

We are now flattering to deceive and just drawing out the inevitable in a classic Cardiff styleee.

We have to take a chance next year, splash the parachute cash and make a go at getting straight back up.

No we haven't... we are two points from 17th with 3 games to go. I think we are going down, have since we were battered 4-0 by Hull but I have some optimism. Certainly don't think we're already down because that is crazy talk.

Also the PP won't be a lot. You get 60m over a 4 year period and 15m doesn't even cover our wages.
