That's how to get promoted

Burnley promoted, even though they only paid one transfer fee of £400,000 since October 2012, shows you don't have to spend big to get promoted.
Fair play to them though.

They played decent football most of the season so that malky story is bollocks

Not wanting to turn this into a Malky thread, just thought it was quite impressive, given the amount they've spend.

Now that's what you call good management. Getting a team to the prem with practically no budget, and no needing to throw big wages about. Even derby have got more points than Hull got last season and it's not even over yet  shows what a weak league it was last season to.

They conceded less, and with two games more will probably score the same/more. Shows that Malky wasn't perfect last season and got nervous towards the end rather than go for it.

I'd say its pretty good going no matter how strong the league is.

At the end of last season we were f*cking shit.
We hardly won a game.

If only we replicated this

Their celebratory pitch invasion looked so lame compared to ours last year. Brought back a few memories though....

Can you imagine what their attacking line-up would be like if they still had Charlie Austin and Jay Rodriguez. Hell of a feat to get promoted after selling your strikeforce though.

Chose his own path instead of settling to be a number 2 and you've got to be fair he's done brilliant, especially bouncing back after being sacked. It's a shame he never chose to come with Malky he obviously has something in his locker he could have offered.

Brendan Rodgers clearly didn't learn a thing from Mourinho then when he was head hunted to be his number 2. Assistants learn from their managers. Deal with it.

Different club, different scenario, irrelevant.

We mocked many a Watford fan who claimed malky was overrated and Dyche was the better manager. They were right clearly.

Clearly not as that opinion is based on coming second in the championship when mackay won it.

When mackay took over a squad of 9 players and players like mutch and noone for barely anything.

They did it spending nothing and playing football.

We did it spending and spending with huge wages and playing poorly.

To be fair the Watford fans thought Dyche was a boring manager who was far more negative than Malky and Malky played much better football with better signings.

No idea how that's gone so arse backwards since though

I could have got us promoted as Champions last season with the amount of money Tan gave Malky to play with.

Or it shows it was stronger as the teams were closer and more competitive !
This year it's been quite predictable IMO

What you could of predicted Leicester and burnley going up automatically ? You should of out money down you would of won abit. Personally I invisaged teams like QPR, Wigan, Reading, Watford, Blackburn being top. Goes to show how many decent teams are in the league this yr, you only have to look at Wigan in the cup to show how gd of a team they are, and they are 5 or 6th I think.

I expected Reading to challenge but QPR and Wigan not to.

I fancied leicester to give it a go but not burnley .
I meant it was quite predictable a few weeks into the season as to who was going to challenge and along the way there hasn't been many shocks .it was always going to have 5 of that top 6 fighting it out from the start .
Last year it was wide open for much of the season between 9/10 clubs and anybody could have made it
