Lots and ifs and maybes about this season. Unfortunately, our season has been a mess decision wise from start to, well I won't say finish yet as a miracle could still be pulled off, I doubt it tho with our luck.

I believe that when he was first approached by Palace he knocked them back and it was at the time that Malky's goings on we're going on and it appeared as though Pulis may have been watching the situation. It was only after sometime that Pulis took the Palace job. He probably has been manager of the season alongside Rodgers.

By the time Pullis took charge, Palace had just seven points from 12 games. Since then, they have taken 30 points from 21 matches, conceding 18 goals in the process — a figure only Chelsea can better.

They repeatedly displayed a defensive resilience that has helped them secure six 1-0 victories.

The appointment of Iain Moody as sporting director looks shrewd while Pulis’s influence extends far beyond the pitch.

So it's clear who the weak link between moody, Pulis, and malky would be going from results this season.

Tony Pulis hails "excellent performance"

By Sian Cowper, Reporter

Tony Pulis has said that Crystal Palace put in an "excellent performance" to beat Everton at Goodison Park this evening.

Jason Puncheon, Scott Dann and Cameron Jerome were all on the scoresheet as the Eagles claimed a 3-2 win, giving Everton just their second home defeat of the season.

The manager told BBC Radio 5 live: "It was an excellent performance from us today. The only thing that was disappointing was the two goals we conceded but we played some good stuff tonight and we always thought if we could move the ball quickly we could score some goals.

"The whole basis of every team I have ever been at is to make sure we have a solid base to give us something to work on.

"I think we are safe but my first game when we went to Hull we had four points so to get to 40 points is a fantastic achievement for this group of players. But we owe it to the Premier League to remain competitive until the end of the season and we want to finish the season strongly and get as many points as we can."

The result moves Palace up to 11th in the table.

Tony Pulis reveals Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him to take Crystal Palace job

The Welshman said in the wake of the Eagles' 3-2 win at Everton that he wasn't sold on the Palace job until old boss Peter Coates and Sir Alex piped up

Tony Pulis claims Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him that he could keep Crystal Palace up.

Palace are virtual certainties to survive after recording a fourth straight win over Everton and Pulis revealed that Fergie was one of just two people who told him to take the job in November.

“Did I have doubts about taking it?” said the Eagles boss. “It was difficult. I met Steve Parish and spoke to Steve about four or five times and I didn’t feel it was right.

“I looked at it and everyone I spoke to said it was a difficult one.

“Sir Alex Ferguson and Peter Coates, my old chairman at Stoke, they were the only two who said to take it. They were two very good judges!

“I hadn’t seen Palace play, but I enjoy a challenge. It’s in my nature to stand up and try to march people forward and we’ve done that.

It had nothing to do with Cardiff. Pulis was skeptical he could save Palace as they were neck deep in shit, so he asked for a very big salary and a massive survival bonus (we are talking around £1million) - why would you ruin your reputation for anything less? The Palace owners are pretty shrewd, like all good business men they don't like throwing money away, so they looked elsewhere. They had already mutually compensated Holloway so they didn't really fancy shelling out money for another clubs manager - eventually it became evident that he was by far the best candidate for the job (by a country mile... plus he was a free agent), so they offered him what he wanted. In reality, what is a million pounds to the owners if he keeps them up? Best signing of the season bar none.

The job he has done there now will mean he actually wouldn't mind staying there in the long run, got something to build on now their staying up.

Steve sadly correct, Pulis even held out to come here, but as he wasn't a big name Tan did not want to know, I hope we don't regret it.

Palace had a few flair and pacey players in the championship who could adapt where as we had more static players who couldn't

I wanted Malky to stay end off on that. But the day Tan had decided Malky should of gone, then that was the day he should of sacked him, instead of the Tan/Malky circus.

pulis is a good manager but palace played much better football in the championship than us and those players adapted unlike ours who were static and defensive type players.
Malky got my respect for getting us promoted but was then out of his depth. time will prove that i'm right :thumbright:

Jinks, the prob is none of us will be proved right as Tan sacked Malky, so we will never really know.

If Malky is that good then i'm sure he will be managing a mid table premiership side within a few years
