I work in Solar :ayatollah: ,
I have worked in the energy industry 10 years and I can tell you from first hand, the electric prices are set to soar over the next 10 years.
Having solar will protect you from this = think of it in 12 years time when everyones paying double, youl only be paying then what your paying now.

aswell as being able to earn thousands of pounds from the government and national grid, you are securing yourself cheap electricity effectively for the rest of your life

Dont go with any rogue companys or small time producers = If you want a solid reliable panels with a great gaurantee come and see me in IKEA -
I can get you 15% off on ikea member discount Hanergy who I work for are one of the biggest producers in the world and the panels are the most efficient and with discount around the cheapest on the market in the UK

Let me know if your interested or even just want a quote and some information

I would love to go solar but the wife says that they look ugly. However when I enquired 12 months or so ago the bloke told me that it wont be long and you will have solar powered windows. Is that still the case ?

thats the first i've heard although there are breakthroughs happening like you wouldn't believe its just people in power are too greedy and the unclean energy is worth too much to the lining of their pockets.

Once the wife is having an extra holiday a year abroad or an extra nice meal out every 2 weeks on the savings and returns you make im sure she wouldn't mind as much lol. or even bank the savings, and it equates to a five figure pension bonus in years to come providing the roof space is there

Im not looking for people that want to sell them, Im asking who got them and want to know there opinion on them. and if they have tried to sell or buy a house with solar fitted panels.

Why should I buy them when I have already been offered them for free from a government backed scheme .

The government scheme if sold to you face to face is effectively a solar loan where they take most of your profit ofcourse its a cheap option but my honest oppinion for you is the truth.
I wouldn't reccommend a bad product to fellow fans from this forum.

Bluebird86 Energy is going up running lower.
more importantly resources will adventually run down and there wont be enough to power the whole of the UK forming black outs etc if not worse

Solar and renewable energy is the future. they will milk whats left and then re-structure the whole world around renewable energy.

welshcitydragon
just giving you some reliable info and trying to steer you in the right direction if you want the best product out there, IKEA selected Hanergy out of douzens of big companys - the facts back it up online proof etc.

also you can get solar loans which effectively are free thats the scheme you would of been offered

just trying to help no benifit to me payed a salary. not commission

I think its complete nonsense technology for this country. We've got a 3.6kw system that's been up for a couple of years. It cost £ 9,500 to put up and we get about £ 800 / year in FIT. I don't have a problem with the cost or indeed the return. I'm more interested in the general usefulness of the power gained.

As far as contributing to a reduction in lower household bills any saving is negligible. 90% of the electrical power used by this house is used when there is no power generated. 75% of the power we generate with the solar is in the middle of the day in the middle 3 months of the summer when most households are using their absolute minimum electric.

Where does all the power go ? It goes to the power companies for next to nothing who consequently with collective generation are able to shut down some generating plant in the summer months.

Who pays me for the power I've generated. hardly used and passed back to the grid. Well I pay, my neighbours pay and so does everyone.

Its all a complete con at our expense engineered so that the government can go someway towards their renewable targets.

Your right about energy prices rising and if they keep filling fields and fields with solar panels we'll they'll rise even faster.

Going back to the original poster's question if your not getting the FIT payment which probably means paying for them yourself then I wouldn't bother.

There's no way big massive panels bolted to people's roofs are the future.

If it was that good everybody would be racing out to get them.

yes there can be problems with selling house as the new owner has to take on the aggreement for panels installed, as usually they are perchased on a 20/25year energy deal! but you need to get clarification on this as it probably depends on deal struck with suppliers. :old:

=============================================================================================================

they will make money on whatever they can thats todays economy, you cant get away from it.
They are obsessed with inflation and continual rises especially on energy and medical drugs etc thats their bread and butter.

almost 10k for a system Is alot.
Were fortunate enough to be in a position where the prices are discounted and low due to contract agreements so you could pick up the same 3.6 KW for less than 6k

The reason I wanted solar was once its on your roof and payed for your dailly consumption can be taken care of. How much will electric be in 2030 ? Who knows silly amounts probably.
Also you've got cash coming back either straight in the bank so in 20 years time untouched it will be a nice five figure bonus or its an extra few expenses taken care of per year

Ive always wondered why the tops of football stadia aren't covered with solar panels if they are effective.

I thought that you are in the solar business and haven't heard of these solar windows..? Even aquick google search I come across this story and thats dated in 2008 so with the greatest of respect I don't really rate your knowledge one this one :laughing6: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/scien ... 65592.html

Regarding the extra money earned which you say we can spend then I would rather have a nice looking house which I can easily sell on thank you very much

A neighbour of mine had problems selling because of the solar panels it held up the sale by six months and they had to reduce the property by a couple of grand more . I don't know what the problem was or who the company were but it ended up on X-ray last year

Re: ANYONE GOT SOLAR PANELS ?

We had the free ones stuck on our roof at the back on a 24year lease, they been up couple years and our elec bill is next to nothing. We had them put on as we have extended the house etc and we are happy where we live so not planning to move. We also had them put on as the council refused us planning permission for a dorma on the back due to our neighbour behind so thought it would be nice for them to look at them.

After the 24year term the panels are yours but they do loose some performance over that period but they are maintained by the company. We got a dishwasher and washing machine with delay timers so when we leave for work we have them timed for mid afternoon and as prev mentioned or elec bill is very low even with 3 kids etc

ccfc cotta, can you explain something to me please as I've been trying to get more info on panels? my neighbour came around the other day to ask me if I had leccy ( bit prone to power cuts where I live ) now she has panels on her roof so I was a bit surprised by this as is there no way to store this surplus energy so she would still have leccy if the grid went down? good answer needed as this is the deal breaker between me and the missus :)
