A fair display giving Cardiff City some important decisions is long long long overdue.

Difficult not to think of that Reading game whenever Howard refs us... Yes we were pants that day but my god he didn't help...

Usually a very fair ref and havent really had any complaints in any of the games since (except a blatant penalty not given in the Hull (IIRC) game, but then not giving us penalties is a recurring theme all season and certainly not unique to Howard Webb.)

Hopefully we will play well enough that it wont matter who is refereeing, as we shouldnt need to rely on decisions in must win games like this!

Sorry, didn't see your thread.

Agree - we're long overdue a good performance from Webb.

thought he did fine in the game against Reading personally.

Personally I think Webb is a terrible referee. He says he tries to keep the match flowing, I say he just bottles it and won't make decisions. Stoke are one of those team you know are going to rough you up and we need a decisive referee. I have a funny feeling there may be some dodgy decisions this Saturday. Can't see wanky webb doing us any favours.

As I recall (and I know I am biased) we had 3 penalty appeals, one probably wasnt, one you've seen given and one stone waller. None given. Sniff of a foul in our box and penalty is given. Pretty sure Long handballed in the build up to their goal, although you can definitely understand him missing that one. And I seem to remember there being a fairly blatant handball for us not given in the second half.

Granted, every decision was understandable and there werent any absolute horror show decisions, just felt like every big decision/non decision in that game went against us and cumulatively it got very frustrating to watch. It was ages ago though I could be wrong - also I couldnt 'blame' the ref for that result as we were absolutely rubbish....

Your correct Super Kev.

One year I spoke to him he did mention that he awarded us a penalty v Leicester in the Play Offs where Chopra was offside when he won the penalty.. FairPlay to him he gave a great insight into refereeing and the real pressure is the World Cup, if you make one mistake the whole team of officials like Webb and his could be sent home.

For example I think Tevez scored an offside goal v Mexico in the 2010 world cup? Whoever was officiating that game got sent packing and never refereed again, not to sure if it was them.

Howard Webb will be the man in the middle when Stoke visit Ole Gunnar Solksjaer`s Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium this weekend.

Webb has refereed 27 times this season handing out 80 yellow cards and two red cards, at an average of 3.04 cards per game.

The Sheffield & Hallamshire F.A. referee was promoted to the Premier League select group of referee`s in 2003, elected to the FIFA list in 2008 and became the first person to referee both the World Cup final and the Champions League final in the same season in 2010.

The South Yorkshire official has refereed Stoke once this season. The Potters` 0-0 draw with Midlands` rivals West Brom. He showed one yellow card in the game, to Stoke`s Andy Wilkinson.

The 42-year-old has officiated Cardiff three times this season, their 2-0 defeat at West Ham, 1-0 home win against West Brom and 4-0 home defeat against Hull. He handed out six yellow cards over the fixtures, four to Cardiff players.

M Mullarkey and D Cann are the Assistant referees for the encounter.
