From a Saints fan.

Credit to Cardiff City and your fans yesterday,to take 2500 fans away when you've been looking and playing as though relegation was a certainty was a top effort.Your fans were brilliant, friendly as they were at CCFC stadium on Boxing Day and your team deserved the 3 points (we certainly didn't,did u notice how Lallana + lambert didn't fancy a tackle )

The Premier League will miss fans like yours (amongst the loudest at SMS this season) if u go down as im sure u will agree most premier grounds are like morgues.

When Annis Says it may be too little too late its not.In my 52 years on this planet as u can guess ive seen a few relegation battles so dont give up just yet. Here's how

STOKE- must win game.Treat it as your cup final, tell any fans if their not going to sing their hearts out for 90 mins dont bother going, give your ticket to some one who is. Make it intimidating like Ninian Park and Stoke wont fancy it one bit.Lift the stadium roof off.

SUNDERLAND- dead men walking already down

NEWCASTLE-absolute pants we should have got double figures 2 weeks back

CHELSEA-probably of title race and maybe in Champions League final, again wont fancy it.

7 points from 4 games will do it good luck

and remember BELIEVE Adrian

Top Man. Off topic but Mick Channon is one of my favourite ever players. Proper goal celebration too. And this was sublime. Who needs Brazil. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxyYSoblpcI

Thanks for the very kind words - can I just also say how friendly I found not only the Saints fans but the saints stewards aswell - felt really welcoming, not normal to have a handshake and a smile from a steward on your way into an away end!

Wasnt the best game - think your lot were subconciously on the beach, and ours were a bit lacking in confidence to start but grew into it.

We sure can stay up, but it will be a massive ask.

I think the problem is basically as you say - most premier league grounds are very quiet nowadays, including ours. It is very difficult to generate a positive atmosphere at home games, as all the fans who want to be loud are spread out and diluted amongst the crowd. Generally speaking, the away end in any ground is the most concentrated section of loud, singing fans.

I hope against hope that our fans can be loud and proud on Saturday (Going to miss it unfortunately as my mate rather inconsiderately arranged his stag do for this weekend!!!!) but will be making the 2000 mile trips to the other end of the earth

One thing is for certain - the players will need our fans on Saturday - win and I would be extremely confident the miracle is happening, anything else and I will re-enter the acceptance stage....

Southampton and its fans always seemed decent and positive, so this post doesn't come as a surprise to me.

fair play to you mate, lets hope so eh!

It's strange because a lot of the Saints fans are saying that Cardiff have brilliant support and if you look at the Palace forum they are saying the exact opposite (that our home support was awful)....atmosphere seems to be easier to generate away from home. Can't wait for Saturday, the stadium needs to be shaking :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

I stayed the week end in Southampton for my first visit. Great city and wonderful people.

Lets hope the ccfc fans create a good athmosphere vs Stoke, and will be a good 12 th man. Its necessary.

Nice post. Remember Southampton being the ultimate relegation fighters. Who always seemed to pull an houdini act so your words are well founded. Was absolutely shocked we got anything against you a top team in the making I think with some good British players. It sounds like it's the same for most teams good away support and generally poor home support. Good luck for the rest of the season

Agreed on the Stoke game, no room for getting on their backs or jeers.

As much as I have praised Southampton's football and how they do everything etc I could help feel yesterday you was too predictable and never switched your game to try and get behind us more.

I didn't feel so nervous about us after the goal as I felt we dealt with you all game. You had a few chances but didn't feel threatened so much.

Diagonal crossfield balls to your full back on KTC side second half and Lallana trying these fancy crosses to the far post or looking for Lambert for the knockdown.

Great read hedgeend 61 :bluescarf:

I've never stopped believing, especially after the 0-4 Hull defeat.

Looking at our response and performances after that suggested we could still avoid relegation.

I felt Palace were the wrong type of team to play against following the previous results. Knew they would frustrate us up front, boss the midfield and play well on the counter. Didn't think for one minute they would be that effective though.

It was a very bad day at the office, but again that result could be the kick up the backside along with the incredible feelings when Cala scored and at the final whistle. The players and management will do everything they can to repeat that experience. That is what they play for.

Stoke are potentially a tougher team for us to play against than Southampton. They are like a Palace team, but better. Their recent form of 16 points out of 21 is PL winning form. Their away record looks very poor, but since the start of the year, teams struggle to score against them (apart from Chelsea recently).

Can we beat Stoke? Yes, no doubt. However, it will be a very difficult game and a draw would not be a terrible result.

For me, our season was effectively over in mid Feb when Pochettino hoisted the white flag away to Sunderland in the FA Cup by playing a reserve side against an abject Sunderland team to concentrate on finishing on 8th or 9th, when only Hull and Sheff Utd stood between us and an Fa cup final(for this i will never forgive him).

Not saying we'd have beaten Arsenal in the final but i thought the idea for any club is to try and win trophies.I know that in my lifetime we will never win the Premier League and in our history have only won one major trophy ,so why throw away such an opportunity. May be in a minority, but i would take relegation and a cup win, as fans you can remember who won the cup in 1976, but who gives a stuff who finishes 8th in the Prem. You can recover from relegation, they cant erase your name from a trophy.

So you should give yourselves more credit for your game plan last Saturday, although we were poor.

I will be at Villa Sat, but cant guarantee our lot will do you any favours i'm afraid.

If your not going to get relegated or get into Europe then surely you and Southampton fans should demand a cup run. Similar to Newcastle.. they throw away cup ties in favour of staying in the division when they do it comfortably. Padrew is Ashley's puppet mind you. Mind boggling.

I agree with you, surely you should be going cup runs.. it's what you can do and you can win a cup if you put your full 100% in it.

I know a few geordies who are a bit jealous of Sunderland this season going to the Carling Cup Final and FA Cup quarters, every club wants a cup run.. I can't believe that it's got to the point where clubs laugh at the cup and don't show it any respect so much.

The FA Cup Final and Carling Cup Final in the space of 4 years, don't get me wrong it was upsetting not to win either of them but you can't beat a cup run.

Every Cardiff City fan will agree with me when Ben Turner scored v Liverpool it was a special moment and during that moment when it went in you couldn't think or even control yourself. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:
