Jordan mutch

Sat Apr 12, 2014 10:29 pm

If he is not in England's thoughts for the World Cup squad or back up players something is seriously wrong with their selection process because today like most of this season he has been fantastic .

Holding my hands up I didn't expect him to have much game time this year but he has massively proved me wrong , what a player he has turned out to be , England could do a lot worse than him :ayatollah:

Very good player a lot more to come from him but still think he's a bit more to do to be near England squad

Agree but if the squad was picked on form surely he would have to be considered ?

But I understand he has no chance because he's not in a top 6 team

if cleverley is selected, why not Mutch? ohh yeah, doesn't play for a big club!

Exactly
On form mutch gets the nod and in all honesty on talent not much between them . The only difference is the club they play for .

Jordan can be spelt either way just so happens you are correct ;)

Not good enough at the moment needs to be more consistent.

I agree but surely he must have crossed the managers mind ? Who else have they got who is on form or showing any real consistency this season ? Apart from the obvious two of Gerrard and lampard

Lallana and Barkley

Good point and I expect them both to go but normally a squad would include 5/6 centre mids and 3/4 wide men

That leaves room for 2 more players , I can only see it being between cleverly, barry , Milner , carrick and Wiltshire .
Mutch has better form than any of them . I know he won't go but if he was at a bigger club on this form I think he may have had a better chance .

I would probably take them ahead of him tbh.

Agreed. Henderson will be the other younger playing going.

Without a doubt, very impressive now playing in his position.

Big fan of getting people's names right, personal reasons

He's a good player, stands out in our lot, injury prone too. He won't be in the England set up any time soon. He needs consistency and a role in midfield. He's our number ten but he's seldom played there for 90mins and that's not really helping him.

Didn't think he played that well today really. Looks knackered if you ask me

Needs to impose himself on games more. Goals were a bonus but he has huge potential.

If we go down and I managed a lower table club, I'd enquire for a few mill.

Too inconsistent and goes missing

This is bollocks, you've got a bit excited with the win and gone over the top.

He can produce world class moments, with great shots but altogether his general play is just an average premier league player. If you watch everything he did today there was a few times he gave the ball away when an easy short pass was an option, he had a run on the ball when Campbell was timing his run to go past the defence and for his stature can be a little weak at times.

I'm not saying he isn't a good player just that people need to really watch what he does throughout the whole game rather than a 5 minute highlight which might show something class he did. No way should be in Englands squad for the summer but maybe in a few years.

Mutch can be very effective going forward but he is a bit lazy and in no way can he defend.

He's good in our team but an England he ain't.

Not yet anyway

Because he is more of a CAM.

Needs to be more consistent like 2b said.

No way is he good enough to go to the world cup. He cant pass for starters, a must at international level surely?

Mutch has been great and hopefully is catching the eye but needs to do a bit more to get noticed. Too late for the World Cup now anyway, maybe for the next Euros if he keeps performing at PL level.
