Yeah the world rankings aren't very well structured, I think they're based on points or something, you can win a friendly against San Marino and go up 10 places, it's ridiculous

Yes, some really strange rankings -

EGYPT at rank 24 (thought much lower than Wales?)
CAPE VERDE ISLANDS at rank 42 (thought much lower than Wales?)
WALES not bad ranking
KOREA REP at rank 56 (Thought much higher than Wales?)
NORWAY at rank 56 (thought higher than Wales?)
and for me the biggest shock - POLAND at rank 72 (thought much much higher than Wales?)

Blooobirds forever !!! :bluescarf:  :bluescarf:

Fifa are a joke.
Have been for years now.
If Uefa push through with this friendly abolishment and for a league structure then it will further discredit the rank system that Fifa use.

It really is a joke but not funny. How can Poland be ranked so low????

Any system that ranks Scotland as the 22nd best international side in the world is, quite frankly, farcical.

to be fair they are on form recently. 5 games unbeaten and didnt they go away to a top ten side (croatia) and win?

explains at least why they have made such a jump.

Egypt are a better team than Wales and have won a lot of African nations cups, just unlucky when qualifying for World cups. Cape Verde Islands qualified for the African cup of nations and almost qualified for the WC. Korea Rep, is that North Korea? We smashed Norway in a friendly not long ago. We are a better team than them at the moment.

Poland must be an anomaly but they had a tough qualifying group with England, Ukraine and Montenegro.

It does explain it, to some degree. But they played Croatia when the group was decided. Belgium were on the way to Brazil, and Croatia could not be caught for second. Croatia were already looking ahead to the play-offs.

I really dislike Scotland and the Republic of Ireland. UEFA, though, love them. That's why they have extended the number of teams in the Euros. They want loads of happy, dancing, drinking, pastic Paddies and Jocks there.

UEFA can't really ignore England, much as they would like to, but they certainly don't want Wales and Northern Ireland there.

Remember the pay-offs for Euro 2004? We got Russia. Four years later, the Paddies got Latvia! Nuff said!

For UEFA, read FIFA.

Think that Korea Rep is South Korea. The north is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. DPRK.

Its based on so many games, I think its every 10 games not sure. So if you had some bad results previously they don't count anymore once you've played more games. Certain games also count for more, so qualifying matches will count more than friendlies.

i disagree with practically every word you have typed.

first of all, ireland kicked up a fuss about not being seeded for one of the qualies, they then drew France and we know what happened there.

also, if places in europe increased for Ireland and Scotland, its to do with the co-effiecent, but im sure i read somewhere their places in the champions league had gone down.

Also, the reasons scotland might have got those wins means nothing in the rankings, same amount of points regardless.
