Nice one respect to Charlton Athletic FC

Thu Apr 10, 2014 8:08 am

At least CAFC aint afraid to do whats right because the Council are to frightened of upsetting the Muslim community. But hey I bet the majority of the Muslims would agree with this anyway.

If it is true that the Council was too concerned about upsetting the Muslim community then that stinks of racism from the Council. How on earth could they assume that just because they are Muslims they would be disgusted with memorials for someone who got butchered in the middle of the street in such a way? Oh, because he was in the military? Of course, all Muslims hate the British military! Stupid Council.

Heard something about a month ago in the Papers about the Council turning down a request for a memorial. Sad if true.

More likely scared of losing the Muslim vote.

Councils reject applications for memorials all the time for 100s if reasons, is there actually a statement of why and did it actually happen?
great gesture from Charlton, RIP

Surprise surprise, the statement from Greenwich council says that they have rejected applications from several organisations because they are already progressing one with the military. Love the way people try to use his death to further their own misguided causes. (not getting at the OP just whoever put the rumour out in the first place)

Nukes, JUst spoke to Charlton fans, it was them who paid for this tribute, not Charlton FC, they never put a penny in.

Thanks for getting this Annis - it is always interesting to get some facts straight from the horses mouth - good for Charlton fans, and good for Greenwich council who apparently ARE discussing an appropriate memorial with the military.

One of my best mates is from Eltham, and a Charlton fan. Always considered them a good, proper S.E. London, (and parts of Kent), club. This gesture by their fans just confirms that.

Not for the first time, or the last, it takes football fans to show others how to do the right thing. Well done Charlton Athletic fans :ayatollah:

RIP Lee.
