Kenwyne Jones will have a late fitness test

Cardiff City manager Ole intends to drop a number of players from the team that got thrashed at home to Palace 3nil.

Cardiff City to miss Craig Noone for crunch Premier League survival run-in with stomach injury.

Cardiff City winger Craig Noone out for the rest of the season

Cardiff City winger Craig Noone will miss the rest of the season with an abdominal injury.
Bluebirds manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the 26-year-old was hurt during the 3-0 home defeat against Crystal Palace.

“ It's a big blow because Craig's been a player who's made things happen for us ”

The former Brighton wide-man, who has played 22 times for City and scored three goals this season, is to travel to the US to see a specialist.

"We've just got to find out how severe it is," said Solskjaer.

Cardiff are six points from safety in the Premier League in 19th place.
They have five games remaining to try to maintain their top-flight status.
"It's a big blow because Craig's been a player who's made things happen for us," said Solskjaer.
"It's very unfortunate because he's been terrific.
"But that's football sometimes you can't pick everyone you want. Every team has injuries."

Mark Hudson is also out for the season.

However, the news that top scorer Jay Rodriguez is out for the rest of the season and the World Cup is a devastating blow for the player and the club, who are justifiably proud of their growing contingent in the England team.

Rodriguez joins Maya Yoshida, Kelvin Davis and Nathaniel Clyne on the sidelines, but Artur Boruc should play.

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez will miss the World Cup after rupturing his anterior cruciate knee ligament.
The 24-year-old had hoped to be part of the England squad in Brazil after winning his first cap last year.
But he will now have surgery to repair the injury sustained in the defeat at Manchester City on Saturday and is expected to be out until October.

"Everything will be done to deliver a speedy recovery," said Southampton director Les Reed.
"Jay is naturally disappointed, but is determined to get back playing for Saints as soon as possible.
"He has asked us to pass on his gratitude to everybody who has shown him their concern and sympathy during the 48 or so hours since his injury."
The former Burnley striker made his first, and so far only, senior England appearance in a friendly against Chile last November. He has 17 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Southampton this season.

I can see Eikrem coming in for Whitts + Zaha for Bellamy - but not sure about the other two subs, could be a lot of different institutional subs OGS would want to make to change the shape etc.

^ Couldn't edit in time, added the Zaha for Bellamy sub - but honestly I'm not sure what the lineup will look like, I've already changed it in my own head about 10 times xD

Seems like he knows who he wants to start in midfield and attack. Matts, whitts, mutch and medel (if fit) I am gonna guess he will play Bellamy over zaha. Campbell on top. Haven't got a clue about the defense. Fabio had been injured so perhaps if he is fit he will be back.

Southampton will seize every opportunity when they entertain Cardiff this weekend. The Saints, who are currently 8th with 48 points, were convincingly beaten by title contenders Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend 4-1; their biggest away defeat of the season. Southampton fans will feel hard done by after the referee missed an obvious offside in the build up to a City goal before halftime.

The day’s unfortunate score line was however overshadowed by Jay Rodriguez’s injury which will now force him to miss this years World Cup in Brazil. Saints fans will hope that the absence of Rodriguez, who has scored 17 times in 45 appearances for the Saints, too much this weekend.

In a disappointing day for the Saints, Ricky Lambert certainly gave the fans something to cheer about. The England international maintained his 100% penalty record for Southampton, netting his 31st spot kick for the Saints; briefly levelling the scoreboard. Lamberts impressive spot kick ability will certainly work in his favour when Hodgson announces the squad for Brazil.

The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index shows that Lambert has scored 11 times in 33 appearances and has a shot accuracy of 50%; finding the target 34 times.

Morgan Schneiderlin created plenty of attacking opportunities for the Saints against City. The Frenchman completed 41 passes in the opposition half. The 24 year old has completed the most passes in the opposition half this season at Southampton with an impressive 793. Saints fans will be hoping that Schneiderlin can create plenty of attacking play to compensate for Rodriguez’s absence.

Despite giving away a penalty within 3 minutes, Jose Fonte played a vital role in Southampton’s defence. Fonte made 12 defensive contributions (tackles won, clearances, interceptions and blocks) including 8 clearances and 3 interceptions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'Cardiff City must give 100%'
Last Updated: Friday, April 11, 2014 at 22:57 UK
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has called for Cardiff City to "give 100%" in their Premier League match against Southampton this weekend.

The Bluebirds head into the weekend in the relegation zone, six points adrift of safety.

The manager told reporters: "We're got to believe in it and give 100%. The lads have shown that belief this week and will go into the game on Saturday with the fight needed to get a result.

"I hate losing, I don't like losing. It's about getting the job done for Cardiff City, the players, the fans, everyone.

"I've got absolutely no reason to doubt any of my players. Their professionalism, loyalty and integrity is there. Saturday will be tough, but we're ready for it."

Cardiff have won just one of their last nine matches in the Premier League.

Decent line up, but why play Kim? He brings nothing to the team! To lightweight, bad passes. The only he does o.k. is reading game defensibly, and he has some fighting in hime, but useless when low quality. He was not even on the bench in the last match, (if not remember wrong) and now he´s on from start :? Thought OGS had learned...

You have right that there is lack of choices. But I think Fabio could play wide right mid, and then KTC RB then.

Fabio is a problem, he's giving away possession every time he's on it. Almost gave away a goal so far.
