' Is Mats Moller Daehli Cardiff City's brightest star since Aaron Ramsey? '

Patience in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is clearly wearing thin, with endless changes in both formation and personnel failing to inspire his Cardiff City side.

But credit where credit is due, the 'baby faced assassin' at least deserves to be commended for bringing in the new 'baby faced assassin,' Mats Moller Daehli, Cardiff’s brightest prospect since Aaron Ramsey.

If you squint, it’s like having Chris Burke back on the wing, but Chris Burke with all the trimmings. Daehli only turned 19 last month and made his first start for the club at the weekend, after a series of impressive cameo appearances that have provided some excitement and optimism in a season where both have been in rather short supply.

The player Daehli most closely resembles is Wales starlet Jonathan Williams, with both sharing comparable vision, technique and tenacity. What sets Daehli apart from ‘Joniesta’ and many of his Cardiff team mates at present is that he is also fearless.

He plays without pressure or burden and that is something Cardiff are in desperate need of at present, although his best efforts failed to inspire those around him in the woeful performance against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

.

Daehli’s progress to this point has been rapid. He signed professional terms with Manchester United on his 17th birthday and was deemed Player of the Year, ahead of Adnan Januzaj, in his only full season with the club. He then left to join up with Solskjaer at Molde, where he won the Norwegian Cup. He made his full international debut in November and rejoined Solskjaer in South Wales during the winter transfer window.

The move appeared to stall when United attempted to activate a buy back clause in his contract, but Daehli turned his former club down in favour of a reunion with the manager that has since compared him to Samir Nasri and David Silva. Is it any wonder that United are in such turmoil when they allow the likes of Daehli and Paul Pogba leave for practically nothing and spend huge sums to replace them? Their loss is clearly Cardiff’s gain.

Aaron Ramsey’s composure on his Cardiff debut has since been mythologised, but the 16-year-old’s breif showing against Burnley in 2007 exhibited the qualities we have since come to expect from him.

Daehli’s debut against Bolton generated the same level of excitement and the hope is that he will be at the club for longer than Ramsey’s solitary season. His last gasp equaliser at West Brom recently will certainly have alerted the mainstream to his ability and potential.

Cardiff have been desperately short of creativity for the majority of the season, but in Daehli, they have a player to build a team around, whether in the Premier League or The Championship. It is unlikely that any promoted club has ever spent so much money to look so ordinary, but in Daehli they acquired genuine value for money.

Financial necessity saw Aaron Ramsey move on and fulfil his potential at Arsenal, but hopefully Daehli can stay put and blossom in South Wales.

Such an exciting player, really looking forward to following his development. Whoever is the manager i hope they built a team that suits his style to get the most of his abilities because i think he is gonna become a very good play maker indeed if he keeps going like this. :thumbright:

The lad turned down Man Utd for playing under Solskjaer. If Solskjaer is sacked, what will then stop Daehli from leaving?

Daehli may just turn out to be Solskjaers "get out of jail free card" if Cardiff is relegated.

Daehli is never going to step up for Noone's injury. He just isn't good enough to fill Craig's boots.

If cardiff sacks Solskjaer then other PL clubs will bid on Dalie and off he goes. Fact!

The reason he stuck with ogs rather than go back to Manu was the promise of first team football in pl. Manu would have put him I'm their reserve team or sent him out on loan like they do with their youth players. He doesn't want that he wants to play first team football. If the club sees him as a future star and make the right noise I could see him staying at least next season.

he was awful against Palace. Though not really his fault, not sure what position he was supposed to be playing.

Would have to disagree there mate. Clearly one of cardiff best players against palace wasn't helped by immobile team mates and weird formation but emerged with some credit looked like the only one likely to create anything remotely dangerous in the attacking half. Not just my opinion most blogs had him down as more or less our only bright spot.
