OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER THE TINKERMAN IS HIGH UP ON THE PL CHARTS OF CHANGE

His team selections have caught opposition managers - and Cardiff City fans - off guard on more than one occasion this season.

Be it 5-3-2, 5-4-1 or 4-4-2, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sprung more than the odd surprise with his choice of formation and personnel.

Saturday's match with Crystal Palace was no different with Fabio, Craig Bellamy and Aron Gunnarsson going out after the 3-3 draw with West Brom at the Hawthorns a week earlier and Wilfried Zaha, Kenwyne Jones and Mats Moller Daehli coming in.

Unfortunately the changes did not have the desired effect with the Bluebirds going down 3-0 and the role Fraizer Campbell was forced to occupy out wide on the left a particular topic for debate among supporters.

In the wake of that defeat, our analysts from the Trinity Mirror data unit have taken a look at the number of changes to each Premier League starting eleven between games to see which manager can justifiably called the Premier League's biggest tinkerman.

The results - calculated from games played since the turn of the year - show Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is second in the list of Premier League tinkermen, having made an average of 3.25 changes to his starting elevens.

He is only outdone by Manchester United boss David Moyes, who has made an average of 3.31 changes between games as he juggles his side's disappointing Premier League season with their Champions League campaign.

Conversely Liverpool, who have made an unexpected title charge this season, have benefited from having a settled side with Brendan Rodgers making just 0.85 changes between games on average.

Ex-Norwich boss Chris Hughton had averaged 2.50 changes to his side prior to his dismissal and replacement with youth coach Neil Adams following last weekend's defeat at home to West Brom.

But Manchester City's Chilean manager Manuel Pellegrini has shown that rotation is not always a bad thing - making an average of 2.55 weekly changes and still managing to maintain his club's title charge. City lie four points off Liverpool in top spot with two games in hand.

More recent managerial appointments Garry Monk, Pepe Mel and Felix Magath were exempted from the results.

The record of respective Cardiff City bosses this season:

Cardiff City manager 2013/14 season
Malky Mackay - PLD-18 Won-4 Lost-9 Drawn-5 Win Ratio-22%
David Kerslake - PLD-2 Won-0 Lost-1 Drawn-1 Win Ratio-0%
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - PLD-13 Won-2 Lost-9 Drawn-2 Win Ratio-15%

Why aren't we allowed to call Malky, 'Milky' but 'Tinkerman' is allowed for Ole?

The reference to Ole as tinkerman is based on the fact that he changes the side and formation on a regular basis therefore he indeed is tinkering with the team.

Malky being called Milky is based on accusations which are unproven that Malky skimmed money from transfers.

And there is your answer.

So that makes it ok . it's all about respecting our manager whoever it is and that's the problem

"Milky" is just a term of endearment that the players gave to our previous manager. No harm in it just forum fun and it should be treated in that way as should referring to Ole as tinkerman.

So it's okay to abuse our current manager who has done nothing wrong to fans yet it's not allowed to abuse him for bleeding the club dry of 4m in compensation either?

Laughable, what an awful dictatorship of board, loyalties well and truly proven, hopefully Malky can join your forum buses one day and tell you how he royally fucked our chances of staying up spending 8m on a striker that clearly wasn't ready

Nah, we're not allowed to, we've gotta refer to the man who spent 42m in transfers and asked for more as 'Sir', who is going to bleed the club dry of four million in personal gain

Utter nonsense.

The players called him Milky as he demanded a cut of private sponsorship deals they negotiated. As well you know.

Nothing to do with skimming transfers.

UK footballers can negotiate their own private sponsorship deals without consulting the club - unless they have signed a contract stating otherwise.

If it was in their contract that the club takes a percentage of sponsorship deals then they signed the contract and they shouldn't have a problem with it

Malky taking a cut of their deals? What utter bollocks

If you call that abuse then you need to get off your high horse, too many people on this board are always nit picking. "Tinkerman" is and has been used to name managers that chop and change their teams for years. It's not a criticism it's just a saying, some managers style of management is being a "tinkerman", some managers styles are stubborn and don't like changing their teams, Malky on many occasions was called "stubborn Malky" never was this called abuse.

Like moaning old f*cking women on here.
