Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer vows to ditch 'dissenting' players who defied his instructions during sorry Crystal Palace defeat
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has accused some of Cardiff City’s players of going against his instructions as the Bluebirds’ Premier League survival hopes were crushed by Crystal Palace.
And the furious Cardiff manager insisted he will ditch the dissenters come next week’s clash with Southampton, claiming he is not ready to give up on the club’s relegation battle just yet.
Solskjaer’s barb at the team came as his Bluebirds surrendered any reasonable chance of pulling off a great escape front when Tony Pulis’ Palace eased to a 3-0 victory at Cardiff City Stadium.
The result leaves Cardiff six points adrift with just five games to go. Three of them are away, to Southampton, Sunderland and Newcastle, with Stoke and Chelsea still to visit the Welsh capital.
The Bluebirds boss admitted a season blighted by controversy has taken its toll on his players, but let slip he had been upset by what he hinted was some of them going off-message at such a critical time.
Asked if he thought he had the players good enough and with the confidence to keep on fighting, Solskjaer said: “Yes, most of them. The ones that are going to be involved. The ones I will pick will have belief in them, don’t worry about that. I need players with calmness, belief, leadership and...loyalty.”
Asked whether his emphasis on the word loyalty suggested he had been upset by something, Solskjaer replied: “Yes. In training and in games you have plans, you have strategies and you follow them, okay?”
The Cardiff chief did not go into detail or name players he was angry with. Asked what his reaction was in the dressing room, he stated: “That is between us. That is in the dressing room and won’t come out of the dressing room.”
But Solskjaer did admit he will have a difficult job in picking up his players for the matches left, with hope of keeping the club’s top-flight status seemingly lost. He admitted a season which has seen protests against the owner and the controversial sacking of Malky Mackay has taken its toll mentally on players and fans alike.
But Solskjaer insisted insist he as manager – and not under-performing players – will shoulder the blame for a wretched run of results.
“I take full responsibility for every single thing that happened out there,” said Solskjaer. “If players are making mistakes, it is me coaching them every single day, I am responsible for their performances.”

They probably tried playing their own way because they could see Ole's way wasn't working!

Unhappy Cardiff boss Solskjaer laments player 'loyalty' ahead of relegation dog fight
By RIATH AL-SAMARRAI

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a miracle, but he would probably settle for players who follow his instructions.
That he can’t guarantee such obedience led him to question the ‘loyalty’ of some Cardiff players after the debacle of this defeat.
They are damning sentiments and these are dark times for Cardiff and their manager, a bright and hard-working man who was deemed to be in a no-lose situation when he took over from Malky Mackay.

I think that's a case of a journalist reading what he wants into Ole's comments and reporting it as fact.
Sun Apr 06, 2014 10:33 pm
If this is true - it probably explains why he put Cowie on - it the best player but a true professional
First things first Send Zaha back to Man Utd

Good on you Ole for speaking out.

From where I was sitting the whole team played without passion from kick off!
Sun Apr 06, 2014 10:54 pm
players do lose their way during matches and revert into things they think should happen, you can see where oles coming from if players are ignoring his intructions that being said ole should realise this happens in most games and needs to correct it asap or ship them out, I believe zaha, ktc and to a degree turner are just a few of these players who don't listen

Frazier Campbell have his usual 100%
Jordan Mutch was hit and miss but you can't say he didn't make an effort
Mats Daehli tried his hardest but no one have him any options
Steven Caulker was trying his hardest to get to every ball
KTC had a decent game
Noone had an impact when he came on but was quiet when the game went dead
Andrew Taylor had a better game that usual (says a lot) but just wasn't good enough
Not including Marshall I can't remember seeing any other players do anything
Sun Apr 06, 2014 10:59 pm
it does happen players not following instructions even at top teams you will hear manager saying, we didnt play to game plan!

But unless the whole team are in it then the balance is not there, hence why we were poor :/
I feel so doom and gloom right now, I really thought we were going to win this one...

Oh yes I totally agree we were shit
I knew we shouldn't underestimate Crystal Palace but I thought we might have sneaked it

Cheerio Zaha.

If that'd had happened under Malky he'd have blamed everyone else but him or the players.

what an absolute load of f*cking rubbish
as a team as a hierarchy and as a club we are a joke

Marshall - Not a lot he could do with any of the goals.
KTC - one of only 2 who tried their best and although I dont think hes the best player the options in front of him were piss poor. No movement.
Caulker - let his head drop, unacceptable from a so-called captain / leader. Also reverted to hoof ball.
Turner and Hoof - I am guessing he is one of the players who didnt follow instruction as I cannot believe OGS would send a side out and just let this donkey hoof it aimlessly up the pitch. I hoped we had seen the last of that once Malky left. Sadly I was wrong.
Taylor - At fault for the first two goals, has the cheek to have a go at others. He was a weak link in the championship how the f**k we spend 50m in the summer and dont upgrade this guy I do not know. Beggars belief.
Medel - Too slow, his fitness had to be questioned. Blowing through his arse agfter 30 mins every f*cking game.
Mutch - Another one not following instructions and went hiding. Meant to be in centre midfield but just walking around without a care in the world. Shocking effort.
Mats - Some nice touches but couldnt get in the game.
Zaha - I said on Saturday morning I wouldnt play him as they had got in his head. Sadly I was right.
Campbell - Worked his socks off but technically hes not good enough, and hes certainly not good enough to play out wide, but I blame Ole for that one.
Jones - Lazy c**t
OGS - Tinkering far too much. Campbell on the wing?? and dont get me started on his subs.

I had to miss this game to to family commitments. When i was checking to see what our line up was i was very disappointed,
The line up was wrong in my eyes, i know we are at home but playing 5 at the backs seems to work, Fabio and John playing like wing backs, Turner, Caulker and Cala/KTC in the middle. In the middle of the park i would have have gone for Mutch, Medel and either Bellamy or Noone. Daehli just behind Campbell 5-3-1-1.
13 games in and Ole just cant seem to stick to the same side, players are in out more than the Oki Koki.
There is very little hope of us staying in the league now that's for sure, Next season we will be lucky to get over 20k Hopefully then the atmosphere will be back as this year has been shocking.
I know we can sit here and slate the team, management off all day, I was hoping Ole would shine for us. i do think he will get us back up next season. However i really believe if Malky had stayed and Tan backed him we would be like palace now, good few points safe.
I just hope that next season we can rally together to get the team were it belongs PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL. After all we are the capital of WALES

Have to agree with all of this. What I don't get tho is people who were moaning like a bitch on here for malky to play 4-4-2, are now slating ole for playing it. Personally I don't think we should be playing 2 up front at all. The midfield should be packed with quality, and a goal scorer up front, which IMO is not Campbell for prem level, although I believe he will do a job back in the champ. We have had problems with our fullbacks all season which has not been sorted by each manager. Turner also needs to go for me, if he cannot adapt his style to passing it more he needs to be dropped.

I think a lot of peopple would say Mutch lacked effort, he didnt look in the slightest bit interested.

Lance, he didnt play 4-4-2 Saturday I dont know what the f*cking hell the formation was meant to be and it looked like the players didnt know either.
Campbell seemed to be on the left wing, but was tucking inside, Zaha was glued to the touchline but not showing for the ball at all, Mats was roaming here there and everywhere without being given the ball, and Mutch, I dont know what the f**k he was doing.

A bit rough on Turner. Do you think we played Jones not to belt the ball 50m up field occasionally ?
We will need him next you as part of the rotation system, if we are playing a route 1 team, he is a good countermeasure.
I think young Jordon has an eye on next season and wants to add to his premier league highlight reel. The first time I can recall him being that selfish.

Occasionally?
And if he is going to "belt it upfield" (an expression I am not sure players in the Prem should be familair with) then try and at least find Jones, not touch or on a couple of occasions goal kicks to Palace.

I agree tactics are baffling, maybe he does not have enough confidence in the current players so is forced to play Campbell out of position. I think ole was to naive in trusting Zaha, believing he would give his best for our club. Zaha should be sent back right now IMO.

Ole's way? It's a different selection, formation and tactics every game. The players won't know whether they're coming or going. The only consistency is the crap defending.
