Ole/Malky debate settled

Sat Apr 05, 2014 9:31 pm

7/12/13 CRYSTAL PALACE 2-0 CARDIFF CITY
5/4/14 CARDIFF CITY 0-3 CRYSTAL PALACE 3

Looking at these two results and especially anyone who watched both games can plainly see that both managers aren't going to keep this group of players up, especially with the lack of talent/effort showing in places.
I thought Malky cracked the championship, and looked to be coping in the premier league until it clearly showed around early November that he was out of depth, especially going to away games such as Palace/Villa/Stoke and that showing at Southampton was the final nail in the coffin. I felt he had to go, but not in the manner he did. Also his man management/signings (such as with Cornelius, Brayford, and Odemwingie. Noone didn't play for the first 3rd of the season, remember)

As with Ole he hasn't had anywhere near enough time. He's had just over 10 games (with a transfer window to start with) to make his mark and with the enormous amount of pressure to do well. A lot of people say he is out of his depth, and inexperienced, but I feel he is no more inexperienced than Malky, and he can also make substitutions that can change a game when he has got it wrong. He has underachieved for what we need to stay up, but I don't think Brian Clough could've got this group of players above the relegation zone after all they've been through. Hopefully you give Ole a summer and he can get a regime going, but if not then there are plenty of managers who can, whether they be dull-yet-effective Pulis style managers, or revolutionary managers like Martinez or Pochettino. I'm just saying now we have a season or two in the Championship now to sort it out and have a proper go at the PL, having learned from our mistakes.

Never have I agreed so much with a post on this message board

Agree. Both managers just not good enough for this level.

I think Ole isn't at the moment but has the potential to be, Malky's big spending might hamper him ever getting a PL job, he'll have to go a club that he can build on a significantly smaller budget than here

Until ole has had a full pre season and summer transfer kitty, I don't won't to judge him as it's not really fair, but his recent tactics I'm not to sure if he knows what he's doing.
