Should Premiership Managers ?

Sat Apr 05, 2014 7:45 pm

Cut their teeth in the Championship or lower UK leagues first ?

Clearly your man Dalman didn't think so ?

I think they should - haven't seen a decent player / manager do it yet ?

Roy Keane - flop.
DI Canio - flop.
OGS - flop

Any others - what's your thoughts ?

Surely experience required first ?

I think you need to do your time.

Malky was only into his 3rd full season.

Ole has only dome two full Norwegian seasons.

The problem is all the chairmen owners want the next bright young thing. In the end of the day its a about man management, as is any senior management position. Ever since the football sims games arrived everyone over plays the tactics.

You mean managers who haven't achieved much before eg rookie managers.

Yes its a big step up from going to Norway football to the premier league isn't going to be easy especially when you've been managing 4 years

I guess we have a differ in opinion :D I do not support the theory of mindless attacking tactics. I have seen a team trying to score goals, and made some errors yes. Mostly down to single players, lately lot of Medels. I cant find a tactictic argument to support the lack of effort today, and i think Dve said it well. But you do your best to take a dig, ill give you that! How many threads now?
What i know is Solskjaer aced he coaching license, is a brilliant football mind, got mentored by sir alex, built a fantastic football organization at molde, with a ruthless owner, worth 3 times more than Tan. Ill give him another season to prove him self

I would say only around 5% of top top players make top top managers Steve, and most of them would find it hard going straight in the premiership.

If you've got it then you've got it in my opinion. Cutting your teeth at lower level will help some but I don't think you have to do it. The right job for the right person and all that.
