I've said a few times on this forum that we are in the relegation zone on merit. It has been obvious for some time now, that Fulham and Cardiff are the two weakest sides in this division.
We may have spent a lot of money when we gained promotion, but have we really strengthened our team to any great extent. As far as I can see, the few players who have played half decent on a regular basis were already here when we were in the championship. Some of our buys during the transfer window have played ok now and again, but haven't showed that they are prepared to get stuck in when the going has got a bit tough. I think if you choose our three most consistent players this season, you will find that they were here when we were in the championship.
This side was not strengthened enough to compete at the top level, and the only question remaining is whether we finish 19th or 20th. I stick by what I said here on Friday, that we will at best get another two to four points this season.
