"I Want Him " : Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Confirms He Wants To Sign Man Utd’s £15m Trickster

By Jack Watson Saturday April 5th, 2014

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that he would like to sign Wilfried Zaha in the summer but Crystal Palace are trying to unsettle him. While the Daily Mail suggest that Man United could be willing to sell the tricky winger.

The winger is currently on-loan at Cardiff with former Man Utd striker Solskjaer as his manager and has struggled in his first full season in the top-flight.

Zaha twinkled in the Championship and earned a £15 million move to Man Utd last year. He stayed with Crystal Palace until the summer when he joined up with his new side.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson signed him but retired soon after forcing Zaha to work with David Moyes who didn’t fancy him and sent him on-loan to south Wales.

He has played quite well but is finding it tough in the middle of a relegation battle.

The Norwegian, who also confirmed he would like to sign the 21-year-old on a permanent basis, said: “We have had Wilfried coming on, making an impact and, surprise surprise, Palace want to sign him this week.

“I would like to sign him if we can. Wilf is a good player but I don’t think he is being drawn into this situation where it is suddenly brought up that his former club want to sign him just as he faced his old team. Palace is his past.

“Of course it is manufactured. But Wilf is fine. I have had words with him and he knows the game. I have not heard Tony Pulis speaking about him, I am not sure he is Tony’s type of player.”

His problem is his attitude

He came here with a decent chance of sneaking into thee England World Cup squad . He should have been going all out every week to catch hodgsons eye but he hasn't . It's a shame because he could be a fantastic player but doesn't seem to have that drive to take his career to the next level . Maybe he's happy with his lot and will now just be a journeyman for his career .

Whilst he hasn't put on the sort of display he managed at his time at Palace last year especially and I didn't think he played so well at West Brom last week either, the fact of the matter is that when he came on, he was marked by 2 or 3 players at a time, which subsequently gave some of our other players more room to manoeuvre, which they weren't getting before he came on!

This ultimately led to us bossing the majority of the rest of the game, when we were getting bossed beforehand!

Zaha has to learn what's efficient in Football. It's not the 4-5 stepovers, it's the one stepover followed by an acceleration, the body feint, one twos, followed by deliveries and shots in his position. Look at Messi, he can dribble around and not lose the ball between 2-3 defenders, but he only does it when he sees the chance to exploit a gap in the defence to make a killer pass or have a go at goal. The rest of the time he uses few touches, keeps the ball going in the team, just playing extremely efficient. Zaha wants to have a go at multiple defenders every single time he gets the ball in his feet. He has a lot of potential, but he needs to learn these things in order to reach a high level, because currently he's way too inefficient to contribute much for any team in the Premiership. Should he stick around in Cardiff after the seasons, I hope OGS can guide him in the right direction.

Confidence in his own abilities are the main issue I think , being pushed around for big money and not being allowed to settle or given the game time has hit him hard , but as I said today could make a massive difference to him and the rest of our season .....really hope he brings his A game  :bluescarf:

Would say him not shining yet is caused by his lack of confidence. You can see it all over his face during match. Would love to see him here the next years, but really can't see it happen

Agree. His confidence seems battered after Manu. He was signed by ferguson but with the new manager coming in he wasn't really given a chance. He has so much potential, he needs to work harder but getting his confidence back up is vital. With a good game today it could turn around for him. :bluescarf:

He should never play in a Cardiff shirt again after his performance/attitude today

Not a true professional - looked deliberately bad throughout the game and walked straight down the tunnel when he came off - his body language all game was negative and constantly static - f*cking disgusting

Compare him to Ledley who didn't celebrate the goal bit gave his all for the team who pays his wages (I hope this shows the f*cking idiots who said he wasn't good enough for the prem that they were wrong)

I have always said there is no excuse for booing your own players - but it became apparent all to quickly that Zaha is not a Cardiff player

I dont blame him for going down the tunnell after being boo'ed.
The rest on Zaha I agree with, poor attitude throughout.

He deserved all he got for ignoring to do the :ayatollah: twice!

Given he's ex-Palace and a loan player he should never have been a starter today.

asking him to do the ayatollah was plain stupid..........booing our own player after 15 mins ,unbelievable...if the boot was on the other foot would you really expect a player who had spent 5 years here with a chance he would be back,to behave differently...........
my opinion on him is crap..no idea why utd spent all that cash on him..no idea why he is here......but he is here.

Totally agree. I have never booed a Cardiff player before and I don't feel good about doing it today when Wilful came off but he showed me today that he doesn't care about us at all. And why shouldn't he have been expected to do the :ayatollah: It wouldn't have been disrespectful to his old club. It would have meant a lot to us though so he can hardly be surprised that he was booed off. So it's the Championship again...at least you don't get players wasting time after 3 minutes in

This . The guy is no where near a 15m utd player . Think fergie must have had a good day on the scotch when that deal went through . Lacks consistency and bottle for a fight
