He's available for 10 apparently but that's after a good season for Newcastle. I reckon 8/9 could have got him last summer.

I think he had a relegation release clause of around 8m. Not sure how true that is though. But if it is he'd have been an excellent signing

Still can't get my head around us buying cornelius when there was tried and tested players available for less..

He was offered to the club on loan for the season Chris for less than we were paying Cornelius per week with no loan fee.malky dident want him

agree !! What the fu#k happened here, I've had a feeling all along that this just didn't seem right. What would Steve Bruce have done with that amount? A lot me thinks :bluescarf:

Because we were not in the market for tried and tested players....

IFFFFF we go down we will only be lumbered with Kenwyn Jones. Our much heralded recruitment dept with the CEO must have made the commitment we would only purchase players who had a resale value. Cornelius was a gamble that he would make it and be top 6 class eventually.

Rhodes, Austin and others mentioned are all at the peak of their value based upon championship performances. How many championship make it first season ?

Caulker will be playing for a top 6 team
Medel is the captain of a team that took the piss out of England

Cornelius was Scandinavian player of the year. The gamble probably appeared sane at the time

The whole issue with the Cornelius transfer is that we could have allegedly bought him for 2 million euros six weeks prior to actually signing him which is why tan is making such a big issue out of it.
If we had bought him for that price then perhaps we could have afforded to give him a season to prove himself.
I don't believe the tactics that Malky employed suited corneliuses style and odenwingie touched on that in his interview after joining stoke.
Both strikers wanted the ball down the channels but in reality the majority of both strikers service was trying to get on the end of turners hoofball

I don't blame tan for being pist if this is true.

I would of like to of seen the money spent on ings/Rhodes or McCormack . Atleast these guys have experience in this country and are proven goals scorers, not just half a season wonder which the rubber tank was.

Cornelius was danish player of the year, not scandinavian player of the year. My mate who is Manu fan told me that Daheli spent only 6 months in the norwegian league last year but was norways young player of the year and won young player of the year at ManU the previous year. Cornelius looks like he had one good season in a crap league and someone was silly enough to throw stupid money at him. That isn't his fault but its crazy that we paid 8 mill for Cornelius and apparently 800k for Daehli. WTF?

Agent fee alone was 800000!
2 mill would be his pricetag in scandinavia.
Smells. :old:

The cornelius signing is the main reason we will be relegated IMO. If loic remy was signed we would of stayed up, the failure to sign a good right and left back fukt us over as well. To much money spent on to little players.

Really?. I'd blame the players on the field, not some 20 year old that played about 200 minutes post serious injury.

Loic Remy is massively out of our league. He has hopes of going to the World Cup, no chance would he have signed for us.
