CLASSY CITY FANS

Sun Mar 30, 2014 10:18 am

City fans have come in for some stick over the years but there were a couple of classy moments yesterday.

City fans joined in with the Jeff Astle campaign applause despite being gutted at just going two down.

At half time there was an announcement about a tragedy in which a young West Brom fan had died and a dedication to him. No reaction whatsoever from the baggies but moving applause from the City fans. Classy.

Some might think it's a bit wet but the support for the team was great too and the mickey take of the irate Baggie at the end hilarious!

That fat bloke at the end was hilarious. He was offering the whole stand to come outside

Over the last few season whenever such an announcement has been made an away match we as supporters have responded favourable. In fact even at home games when our opponents have had a bereavement we have honoured it.

I saw that and he was well wound-up...but did anyone else see the other fat bloke (in the red WBA shirt) and his little boy at the front of the stand giving it large until we pulled both goals back?

Felt for the little boy (who was going apoplectic with rage at 2-2 and then sat crying until they scored their third) as no kid should have their parent allow them to be subjected to that sort of behaviour. I bet the guy's misses would be well-pleased if she could see it!

I've never seen an opposing fan go so quiet and so pouty so quickly in all my days! Had a face like a smacked ar*e and when we scored our late equaliser he was actually crying! Superb! Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke! LOL

Not too sure what happened down in the corner after the final whistle, but some big Copper was giving a couple of our guys a right earful and appeared to be saying they were close to arrest. One of them then appeared to be fighting with his mate in a wheelchair, although in fairness the guy in the wheelchair appeared to be trying to get the other one to leave whilst he could

Had a great day out and (the two loons mentioned at the top apart) found the Baggies fans and the Old Bill pretty friendly on the whole

Baggies we're pretty loud I thought and it was one of the best atmospheres of the season.

They really larged it when they went 3-2 up so the equaliser was so sweet. Not celebrated a goal like that for a while.

Bloody hell it comes to something when you're tapping each other on the backs for acting like normal human beings

But it was so strange. Perhaps its a Welsh thing, but when announcing the recent bereavement of a life long baggie - total silence from the baggies, applause from us.

What do the Jacks do ?

We've always been pretty good with deaths thankfully never mocked anyone as far as I know

Exactly this. Not a single baggie seemed to applaud but most of us did. Weird.

I think it must be like the way we're the only fans I know that applaud the attendance! We were shit for so many years we'll applaud anything. ;)
