bent refs

Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:54 pm

Yet again tonight a small club gets done over against a big club. I know nobody on here hives a feck but blatant penalty and the ref blows up as we are one on one with the keeper. Something ive never seen before. I know you lot have a genuine grievance over a few penalty decisions this season, suffice to say you aren't the only ones.

I think you're lost. The Swansea board is the place for this.

On the topic though, I don't think the refs are "bent" as such, but they are in awe of certain players.

For example, Rooney should have been sent off against us for kicking out at Mutch... Had that been the other way around, I've no doubt he would have been sent off.

We've had times where I thought we should have had a penalty... But then there's also been times where we should have had a penalty against us. Normally equals itself out at the end of the season.

Bit of a bizarre incident at the end of your game though.

I have no problems with Jacks coming on the site, but I really don't know why you're posting that on here. This isn't the place for post-swans match discussion.

Do you remember the time Joe Allen stamped on Ramsey's leg in the box and gave Swansea a penalty?

No apparently not.

Unlike some of the numpties in this thread, I would like to discuss your points decently. I just saw the highlights, they didn't show your penalty appeal (surprise, surprise, they conveniently miss out all of our appeals too), but they did show your one on one at the end and it's yet more cheating by the biased officials. I thought the standard was bad in the Championship, but in the Championship you can at least say the officials made a mistake. In the Premiership however, the officials don't accidentally make mistakes, there are no mistakes, but there are deliberate decisions to severely influence the game to favour the big teams. After so many stone wall penalties being turned down and so many decisions going to the big teams against us, I have come to the conclusion that it's absolute bollocks that decisions "just haven't gone our way because we're towards the bottom". It's happening to you and it's happening to us. We are being cheated, plain and simple!

Not seen any of tonight's action. What happened? Did the ref blow for full time when Swansea were one-on-one with the Arsenal keeper?

Amazed they didn't even show it. Just showed a penalty incident in the Newcastle game that was debatable but ours was a no brainer. One premier league pen in almost two seasons says its own story. Not as if we dont create either we score and create more than our fair share. Also seen some of the stinkers against you some real shockers. Remember talking to Blackpool fans a few years back and the comments were all the same. Kiss goodbye to fair refereeing.

Yes, De Guzman was running through and despite being just inside Arsenal's half, he was still through on goal and would have had a one on one chance to win the game. Imagine if that was Rooney running through with Fergie still manager! Would the same referee had blown for full time then? Would he hell! I'm sick of all the cheating to be honest. :(

Pathetic isn't it. Even teams like West Ham have had several penalties this season, despite not even playing with a striker in their team for part of this season. They are London mind!

Are our club's (chico apart) just too honest. Our managers too quiet?

Re: bent refs

The ref was obviously following instructions. I used to think that blokes like Holloway, Pulis, Warnock etc. we're paranoid, but I've seen enough this season to see that they had a point. Sometimes the refs are subtle, other times blatant. But there is a pattern! That's not why were bottom but one in the league, but it certainly doesn't help.

I think Steven Caulker in particular is too honest. A number of times I've been wanting him to fall down when defenders like Skrtel are literally ripping his shirt off. Unfortunately, the referees only seem willing to give decisions when players go to ground and that's bad for the game as it encourages diving. Caulker should have had a good half a dozen penalties this season and should take a leaf out of Chico's book (without overly doing it like Chico).

Regarding our managers, Malky used to be very good at building relationships with officials, talking to them if he had any concerns and when necessary, questioning decisions and asking them to review footage. Usually, Malky was proved correct highlighting a bad decision given against us and I think this gave him more credibility and dare I say, influenced refs to give us decisions a bit more as they were worried of being proved wrong by Malky again. Fergie is the obvious manager who excelled at this, getting refs on his side and making them scared to give decisions against his team.

Someone said Ole said to the fourth official "they will score now" when we were inexplicably left with only 9 players on the pitch to defend the corner leading to Liverpool's third goal against us. So I think Ole is voicing his disapproval of decisions going against us. Whether that will allow us to be treated a little more fair in future games remains to be seen mind.

Re: bent refs

They need a rule change on this. The ref needs to blow the whistle to signal the end of time, the next time the ball goes out of play that is when the game ends. Will stop a lot of this bullshit going on where the team is in attack.

Re: bent refs

Wed Mar 26, 2014 6:06 pm

Agree with 1948 for once. game shouldn't end while the ball is in play.

That decision at the end last night was a joke. Would it have happened the other way around - no way.

Same as our penalty appeals at Anfield, a couple of Liverpool's goals last weekend, the penalty appeal at Everton, Rooney getting away with his kick, Gerrard not getting a 2nd booking... the list goes on.

Are the refs afraid of spoiling the Champs League/Title chances for a big club as it will be massive news ?lets be fair, not giving a pen for Cardiff, Swansea, Palace, Fulham, West Brom etc... is forgotten about by all but the fans of that club the next day.

The big 5 or 6 get majority of decisions.

Nothing will get done due to media being scared of upsetting the so called elite. BBC criticised fergie once and he didn't speak to them for years.

Last Saturday v Liverpool was so frustrating. The score line suggested we were hammered. Far from it but if you watched motd you would have believed we had been murdered. No analysis of dodgy decisions against ccfc. The only analysis was the sas love in.

Re: bent refs

http://www.myfootballfacts.com/Premier_ ... stics.html.

Big clubs getting favoured when refs are giving out penalties could have some creedence..some statistics.
Or could it just be that the bigger clubs with the better players get more because they would naturally spend more time in the lesser clubs penalty area as they would have the majority of possession?

The ref was spot on when he blew up at the end of the game, it was shown on ssn and timed at just over 5mins the correct time to end the game
