Although I've been impressed with him I wonder if he needs a breather. He's had a tough time in recent games. Kev's experience may b an option in the next game or two. Mind you his attacking instincts may be better suited to the likes of WBA and Palace. Tough call for Ole there

Yes. He was poor yesterday.

I'm not sure, his positioning and misjudgement is costing us but he as a player attacking wise is helping us open up teams due to him being suited to the modern day wing back role, him and Fabio as full backs gives us that attacking prowess, we need to strengthen again this summer with a wing back IMO or convert a winger into it and push Declan forward but I'd play him at WBA, if it doesn't work out then we play a more experienced player

i think you have to take into account the opposition, there are always players /teams that will cause certain players more probs. and everton, spurs and liverpool of late are all top sides.......how can you play him against those and then deem him not good enough against WBA,,,,,,,,,,,i think we should stick and show faith.

Declan is a great prospect with a great future and I thought he did ok yesterday, he will only get better with games, and deserves his place. He will get caught out, as he is only a youngster, but he needs an experienced player to help him and that doesn't seem to happen. We don't seem to have a leader at the back to comand and take control. This in part is why we concede so many in my opinion. That and the fact we allow so many players to run at us as we back off so much. That said I believe I saw enough yesterday to believe we can get out of the relegation spot we are in. Well done to all marchers and the sea of blue too, great effort.

its something that is often over looked in the modern game, especially at the back, oh for a Don Murray or a Mike England

The thing is every game we are getting exposed down that flank John is sometimes drawn out further up field to mark when someone like Kim goes forward and loses it. Always seems to be someone unmarked and the next guy behind is John so hes exposed time and time again that's a gamble of way we play i suppose.

I think ole should saviour and nurture john the same way he does daehli. Clearly they both have huge talents and need time to develop.

That's exactly how I see it. This boy is going to be a real good un for us but he's not a defender his positional sense his is weakness rather than his skills. He wasn't helped at all yesterday by senior players in the middle and at the back and was caught out a couple of times. He was up against the best team attacking wise I've seen for a while so it does need to be put in perspective. I hope for his sake that while he still learns his new role he gets a bit of help on his side of the pitch because he had minimal yesterday

Great player for the future, and someone who will benefit greatly if we end up playing in the Championship next year. That said, I don't think he's ready to be playing top teams like Liverpool. They destroyed us down his wing.

If we'd put him left wing he'd progress much better
Mon Mar 24, 2014 12:34 am
Yes hes simply not good enough at this present moment in time

Why would we want to do that when we have better players like Noone, Bellamy, Daehli and Zaha who can play there?

Personally id play KTC at left back. Hes no centerhalf and did well when moved out to fullback on weekend. I understand he played left back for his previous club also

Against West Brom, I would take John out and switch to a 4-4-1-1 system.
Marshall
Fabio
Cala
Caulker
KTC
Daehli
Medel
Mutch
Noone
Bellamy
Campbell

If we're going to play 5 at the back,I'd put KTC at right back,Fabio at left back with Turner, Caulker and Cala in the centre. One of the centre backs needs to be more commanding and verbally run the back 5 or Marshall needs to become more involved verbally. Give Declan a rest because he's definitely one for the future and we don't want his confidence knocked back.

Yeah I agree with others and I would put KTC at left back as Fabio plays much better for us on the right and he is more natural there.
