' JUST LOOK AT THIS A SEA BLUE IN THE CARDIFF CITY STADIUM TODAY '
link
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=138419 :ayatollah:

I left the march outside the main entrance extremely proud of what up to 5,000 City fans had done today and in the manner they did it, impeccable behaviour and a credit to the club :ayatollah:

I went into the stadium not expecting much in terms of a competitive game and believed we would get a drubbing against the leagues form team at present.

The way we came at Liverpool from kick off was totally unexpected but fair play it got us out of our seats. The opening goal was an absolute brilliant goal, the build up, the movement and the finish were a joy to watch.

We didn't try and sit back and defend our early lead either we kept the same style and tactics and were causing Liverpool real problems at the back, their defence looked shaky.

We knew Liverpool would cause our defence problems too and were undone by the slide rule pass that left Theo and Declan John wanting.

But City continued to press and the energy of Bellamy, movement of Jordon Mutch was instrumental in our forward play, when Campbell put us 2-1 up I think I went a little bit crazy in the family stand. I was hoping as the half wore on we would hold out for a half time lead but it weren't to be.

The second half couldn't have got off to a worse start, a free kick awarded that should never been led to a corner with us down to nine men and Liverpool took the lead. I was always worried if they went in front we wouldn't get back and that is exactly what happened, there was no doubt some very poor decisions today and the major one was not giving Gerrard a second yellow when he hacked Declan John down in the first half.

Liverpool stepped up a gear and probably could have gone up another notch but even after conceding 5 goals City continued to press forward and got a deserved 3rd goal to give a little hope but the 6th Liverpool goal was a clear foul on Cala and we should have had a free kick.

Conceding 6 goals home or away is a drubbing , I accept that, but the way we played in spells was excellent and some of the best stuff I have seen from Ole's team.

Can we stay up ?

I still think it is a massive task and wish he had made the changes he did earlier in the game but West Brom next week is a must win and if we do then we are in with a shout.

Ole's and Cardiff City's season now hinges on 7 games and we need 4 wins to guarantee survival, win next week and it will go to the wire.

But Carl the the players must have been distracted by all the commotion outside and that is why we had such a poor start

Carl i know we all want to win and get points but give me losses like that rather than a boring 1 nil loss :ayatollah:
I can see where we are going under Ole we will be a cracking footballing side next season regardless what league we end up in :ole:

I think the first 45mins considering the team we were playing was the best we have played for sometime nevermind under just Ole.

The ref was awful today, it could have been different.

Plenty of positives but still a number of positions that need sorting.

Our performance for 20 minutes today was some of the best football we have played under Ole

Yet we are still to take one point of a top 10 team under Ole, lets start getting some more points and the 3pts are without needed at WBA away, to me if we dont get 3pts, then I will virtually concede were down. At the end of the day, no matter how we play, its points that matter from now on, nothing else

Awesome day, huge numbers marching, sea of blue at 19mins 27 secs and beyond. A Poor referee and a inform Liverpool team were the only blips on a momentous day. BLUE ARMY :ayatollah:

Agree with this. We played one of the best teams in the country today and we really had a go it the, I would rather that then sitting on the edge of our box, with them peppering our goal for 90 mins.

If we play like we have in the last two game against the weaker side, we can stay up :ayatollah:

Great write up Carl, we are in the bottom 3 for a reason, bad defending and nothing up front, but yet any we were up against a very talented Liverpool side in all areas of the field. If we battle like that today then we are in a chance, but the next 3 games are vital to our survival. I will support our team to the very end premiership or championship, but play that that today and I feel we can narrowly avoid relegation - Keep the Faith lads and lets all get behind the players :ayatollah:

Hi Annis,
3rd goal I felt Sturridge dived for the free kick. Then from the free kick they won the corner where Mutch and KTC got injured and had to go off until the corner was taken. Mutch however did not recieve treatment so why did he have to go off?
5th goal I felt was a definite foul up by the corner of the canton then Liverpool broke and scored down our end.
6th goal I would like to see again. My feelings are tho Cala just wanted too long and got shoulder barged off the ball by Suarez. I didn't think it was a free kick even tho I hate the b*stard.
Will look later on motd.
Great to see the blue scarfs etc in the ground. Pity the only thing I still have in my head is when most took the red ones that night
Me and the family have not renewed next year. 22 years of going down. 16 as ST. Sad :(

We were fantastic today and the ref was the difference between the two sides. Liverpool are a scary team going forward but the ref was absolutely shocking today. After the last couple of games I know we can go to sides around us and get a result. Still think we got an outside chance to stay up :ayatollah:

Annis when you consider who we were playing I think your underestimating it.

Id say the best 45mins considering the quality for years never mind under Ole. Id rather go down trying to win than stay up playing for a free kick. Football is about expression and enjoyment.

Fully agree even though we aren't quite getting all the results I'm certainly enjoying the football a lot more than I have for the last few years. The attitude of the players today was brilliant and we were playing some really good football going forward. To say we are still to get a point against a top 10 team is absurd as the we have played all the big teams mostly away from home when we are aren't expected to get anything. And I feel its great to be able to come away from playing both Everton and Liverpool and gutted we didn't get a result which we deserved

Agreed ! The last two games have chnged my opinion of OGS. He now has a shape and method that is effective, we may have too much to do to stay up but I am optimistic about next season whatever division we are in :ayatollah:

Can't wait for WBA next week !!

"Clear foul on cala"

Jesus Christ that's clutching at straws there, how about he stays strong and actually defends the ball with some aggression instead of going down like a fanny

As for OGS if he'd sorted out the space that Johnson had all game we'd have had half a chance but as usual he was tactically inept

Re: ' HEAVY DEFEAT, CONCEDED SIX BUT ... '

Afraid I can't agree with comments like the referee was the difference between the two sides. The difference was actually a huge gulf in class between us and Liverpool, and I find it difficult to find many positives when we have just conceded six goals at home.
Our players gave it their all, but unfortunately, effort alone is not enough in this league. Our defence is not good enough at this level, and will have to improve next season if we are to seriously challenge the top championship sides. I know plenty on this forum will have a go at me for this negative outlook, but using my head rather than my heart, it has become obvious that we are in the bottom three on merit.
I don't think we can expect to get more than 1 point at best from West Brom, and think we'll struggle to get more than 5 more points between now and the end of the season. A pessimistic outlook maybe, but I have taken my blinkers off and am trying to be realistic. I think that we will be relegated along with Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Some of the points you make are OK (markeMark). Of course there was a gulf in class (Liverpool are title contenders!)but it was not a huge gulf! Remember 5 minutes from 1/2 time it was 2 - 1 to us. Unfortunately we conceded just before the 45 min mark. Then we had the daft situation of having two players down for the corner for their third goal, and the last goal should not have been allowed cos of a foul on Cala. But from now on we cant look for excuses we need to win.
There were plenty of positives yesterday ......
Scoring goals
Playing some attractive football under a good manager (imo)
Taking the lead twice
Having 2 subs who made an impact (and Jones who trotted about for half an hour)
Showing some fighting spirit for most of the game etc etc
But it is now wins that matter there was a clear weakness on our left where John and Kim were struggling. Kim did some tackling (more than Whitts ever does) BUT he didnt press the ball to prevent crosses etc
Also Zaha had far more impact than Bellamy and we need to play him and Daehli imo.
IF we can play the same level against WBA and other strugglers we have a chance.
