Parking help !

Sat Mar 22, 2014 10:27 am

Would anyone be able to help please, those dick heads who are responsible for running the asda car park have slapped a ticket on my car a few months ago and I have chosen to ignore this. I received a solicitors letter this morning threatening to take me to court. Any advice lads please?

Park in the school opposite Canton rugby. For a fiver it saves all that hassle.

I know that, in just saying there's threads on parking fines every week its not worth trying to avoid the £5 to park.

A lot of people on here are saying to ignore these, but my gut feeling is that they will pursue you and take action.

Why are they "dickheads", fella? :?

The rules on parking in the Leckwith Retail Park are clearly defined, so you take a risk by overstaying your welcome and (with respect) that wasn't their fault, was it?

There are many threads on this Forum regarding the enforcement of private car parking tickets, but you will need to double check the legal position now it has gone to a solicitor and any advice on here would have to be given with 'caution'

Sorry, probably not the answer you would have liked for you first ever post

They are dick heads because that's what they are !.... The signs are not clearly visible where I parked and it is private property so the "fine" they issued is illegal under uk law as it is defined as an invoice. With respect, I'm not giving in to injustice and I will go to court as the "fine" is disproportionate to the loss stated.

Why ask the question in the first place if you are just going to ride the waves?? Just let us know how you get off in court!

The question was asked in the hope that someone could give me actual helpful advice or share information that could enable me to fight this case..... I will share the outcome of this case in order to give possible help to others facing the same problem in the future

The letter says "may take legal action" with Big red headed paper. Had one about 3 years ago, as well as phonecalls. All ignored. Had 15 tickets and ignored every single one.

You've apparently answered your own question there, fella, so not sure what you hoped to gain from your thread?

The 'fine' is certainly disproportionate to the monies lost by your overstaying your parking (given that the first couple of hours are free) and that is the avenue you need to pursue

They are no bigger "dickheads" for doing their job than YOU are for doing yours and (again with respect) YOU were the offender and (assuming you are a City regular) would know the score down there and it appears you DID, because you already KNEW to ignore the initial letter ;)
