Robert Earnshaw: Blackpool sign Wales international

Earnshaw joins Michael Chopra who currently plays for Blackpool.

Blackpool have signed striker Robert Earnshaw until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old Wales international has been without a club following his departure from Major League Soccer side Toronto FC in January.
Blackpool caretaker manager Barry Ferguson wanted further attacking options after losing Steven Davies to injury for the rest of the season.
"Mentally I feel really fresh because I've been dying to go, so signing here is going to be exciting," he said.
"I'm hoping I can come here and give the fans some goals and somersaults, give them what I've given to every other team."
Zambia-born Earnshaw is unavailable for Saturday's game with Huddersfield due to international clearance, but can make his debut at Bolton on Tuesday.
He made his name at Cardiff, scoring more than 100 goals for the Bluebirds early in his career and returning to the Welsh capital in 2011.
He also played for West Bromwich Albion, Norwich, Derby and Nottingham Forest before a spell in Israel with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Excuse my ignorance, but was Earnie a 'success' in Canada? If so, why is he back? Is it one of those temporary signings like Landon Donovan made for Everton?

Whichever way, I wish him good luck at Blackpool

32 isn't that old for a striker hope he smashes it for them!

He scored 6 goals for them in 17 league appearances for them, Not to bad tbh considering Henry scored 10 in 32 in the league (same season) :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

He did alright up in Toronto. Played on a horrible team who couldn't get him the ball in dangerous places. TFC just brought in Michael Bradley and Jermaine Defoe as well, so he was probably hurting their salary cap number too.

Good luck to him. He can still do a job at Championship level and for Wales, IMO.

Were all prolific when they played for you. Sometimes clubs suit players and players suit the club.

Agree (except maybe on Keogh :laughing6: )

We also had the opposite with many players over the years and the first 'flop with a reputation' that I remember was Ronnie Moore...but the fans (including me) loved him! We even had T-Shirst made with the words "I saw Ronnie Moore Score!"

Came (from Tranmere Rovers) as a prolific goal scorer, lost his touch, left and started scoring again!

Nowadays, we can point to the likes of Odemwingie as someone who simply didn't 'fit in', but I guess the modern expectations of fans and the pressures of the Premier League mean players don't get any leeway any more  :ayatollah:
