Can home support be as good as away games, please!

Thu Mar 20, 2014 7:59 am

Time and time again you can hear the Cardiff support loud and proud all the way through each away game. It is that good, you can even hear it on the snippets viewed on MOTD.
So what is happening at home?
In my opinion, after the Manchester City game it all seems to have become half-hearted and inconsistent at home. Even the away fans recently taunted us because we were so quiet.
Come on everyone, if we can offer such strong support away from home even when we are losing, then we need to get back to taking responsibility and make our presence felt even more so at home. It doesn't matter which stand you are in. If a chant is going around then add your voice to it!
Don't leave it until next season to start up again. There are vital home matches where we might push our team over the line.
Starting with Saturday, support the boys and make .. the loudest and most sustained racket the Wacks have ever heard (since the last time they faced us)!!!

If you want a better atmosphere at home - go to the march on Saturday and protest the rebrand

A lot of our away support refuse to go to home games because of our clown of an owner - as soon as we are back in blue and our fans are united then you will be a lot closer to getting the home atmosphere you want

What nonsense.

Atmosphere was awful long before the rebrand.

If you are correct about the away support, then my comments are directed to the 25k Cardiff City supporters in the stadium at home games, whether they take part in the march or not. My concerns are about how they respond in supporting the players on the pitch.

Atmosphere was worse than ninan park before the rebrand - but still a decent atmosphere

Its been an awful atmosphere since the rebrand - Only two memorable games for atmosphere

1. When we got promoted
2. When we beat Man City

Wrong. Atmosphere has been dire for years before rebrand and has been a much debated point on here.

cant blame rebrand for that.

Away fans are a different animal to home fans. I have always said when your at home, fans dont seem to think making a noise is needed because theres 25k of us. Where as away we are totally out numbered and make a stand, hence the noise for 90 mins. I have only done half of our home games but done nearly all the aways for the last few seasons due to this. Its no fun down the CCS on a match day like it used to be. Maybe the Liverpool game will be like the Man City atmosphere which was class. I also think us fans who travel away have a slight screw missing or something which helps :ayatollah:

I agree entirely. Point well made.
I am trying to persuade the home fans to become a lot crazier and participate, not just observe.

In an ideal world that would be fantastic - but not all fans want to go to a stadium and shout and chant with the rest

The Family stand & Large portions of the grandstand and ninian are there to watch the game and have no interest in joining in with the chants - it doesnt make them any less of a fan - they just dont find that aspect of football that important for them and its the same in all clubs

The onus is on the Canton and the sections of the ninan and grandstand who want to create an atmosphere to do so

I don't entirely disagree with your comment.
But far from being idealistic, I believe that unless we take responsibility to change the culture at the Stadium (by being prepared to add our lone voice in amongst the quieter sections of the ground), the atmosphere at CCS will remain as it is.
That takes people who are prepared to be leaders rather than follow the rest, acquiesce and give in to the cultural status quo. Culture can change very quickly. But for that to happen in this case it will require supporters to man up until the tipping point.

 I get you man - i wish it was a full stadium going nuts but its never going to happen

People enjoy analysing the game in depth which they cannot do after a load of beers, chanting for the team and jumping out of their seat

Just wear you're blue, chant you're hardest and you know you are doing you're part to make a decent atmosphere :ayatollah:

So you think a stadium full of divided fans, worrying about our copious off the field issues, some wearing blue & some whereing red and both having strong opinions on each other is going to have a better atmosphere than a united fan base in a sea of blue concentrating on supporting the team??

That sounds like nonsense to me fella

Problem as well is a lot of our home fans are either man utd, liverpool, Arsenal first fans or fairly new to live games, so dont know the chants. The sad part is, with seating people who want to sing might be around people who dont and they cannot get to be by the people who sing.

away fans in my experience have mostly been the die hard fans who have most passion for the club..... I know that some cannot get away etc and are just as passionate.

But away fans seem to want it more.

If people felt that strongly they shouldnt go tbh - simple as. rather than go and throw toys out the pram all the time at the people that actually want to support the team.

Atmosphere has been shit since we moved in there due to all seaters. Unless we have entire standing sections like most grounds, not the odd block here or there, were going nowhere atmosphere wise. Would be better having the entire Canton as standing. 2 blocks here, 2 in ninian separated by a hush zone dont work
