Defender optimistic for revitalised Bluebirds

I think in this last fortnight we have seen another Cardiff City, working much harder, a better team. "

Cardiff City’s enigmatic centre-half Juan Cala spoke exclusively to Cardiff City Player earlier this week, reflecting on the disappointment of Saturday’s late defeat at Everton and looking ahead to the weekend’s home clash with Liverpool.

The 24 year-old former Sevilla defender has made four appearances for the Bluebirds to date, scoring his first for the Club at Goodison Park in the 2-1 defeat.

And Juan believes that the spirit and togetherness shown against the Toffees on Saturday will energise the squad further heading into the season’s remaining eight games.

“We did well at Everton, despite losing the game,” said the Spaniard. “We knew that Everton were going to push us hard and that our defence had to be very attentive.

“We controlled the game for large parts and lost with one of the last kicks. I think the penalty decision that went against Wilf was very important too as it would have allowed us to bring the score to 1-2; after that we could have tried to hold on for the win.

“What we have to do now is work hard to beat Liverpool. I think in this last fortnight we have seen another Cardiff City, working much harder, a better team.

“Playing at home will help us and I think if we can win our home games we will stay in the division. In front of our home fans I think everything is possible.”

Nice one Juan!
A welcome addition to the squad. Keeps his eye on the ball. Quick feet in the challenge. Looks composed in most situations. He will have adjusted better next season and hopefully still with us in the Premiership.
