The White Hart is most definitely closed. Has been for about a month. Rumour is the downstairs will be an office with two flats upstairs.
I hate to see historic pubs close, but good riddance to this one!

The had their licensing hours extended a few months ago? Why did they close?

The Gunner? Lived in the flats behind it for 23 years, but only went in once or twice.

The Three Elms Whitchurch
All the ruffians and young whippersnappers are out on Friday evening.
I'm sure they don't even ID them unless they already know they're underage

I don't know why it has closed. But a local told me that the Brewery decided, that the building would be used for other purposes.

Yeah blue always, dusty forge was a proper spit n sawdust pub! Was my regular for a few years, saw some proper old fashioned fist fights in there, not like todays young un's,who use anything that comes to hand! Highfields too! Plus the old leather bottle, think its called something else now I believe, all three were not known for kindness to strangers!

I had a motorbike pinched off Heol Trelai several years ago and I ran in there asking if anybody had seen it. It was probably behind the bar.

I spent a trial period with their football team about 15 years ago and they had to postpone pre-season friendlies because so many players were doing time!
The Ty Pwll Coch on the outskirts of Ely and Canton always had a few tasty fights with pool cues when I used to play skittles there on a Friday night as well.

er, Three Elms rough?? Need to get out more boys if you think that is rough!
In relative terms I don't think you can call anything in Whitchurch "rough" compared with virtually any other part of Cardiff...
Roughest pub I ever went in was The Greyhound down the bottom of The Hayes/Mill Lane - knocked down years ago for shopping etc, but it had 2 doors, 1 served Rough Cider and 1 served Cider that didn't make you go blind.
Tramps used it a lot, and then lay on the grass by the bookies of a summer afternoon - had the lot there
Thu Mar 20, 2014 3:31 pm
I remember The Greyhound had inch thick sawdust on the floor.

I can't believe people are seriously mentioning a pub in Whitchurch. where exactly is the Three Elms? Is it that lovely looking pub on the pleasant green field next to the babbling brook full of brown trout?>

You clearly haven't been there on a friday night when the six formere are out! They just talk loudly and look intimidating when I go to the bar for my glass of pinot noir

Not that many really rough pubs left in Cardiff. Probably the Jug & Bottle (I remember it as the Leather Bottle, what a shithole) and The Highfields are the worst.
You will never get the likes of The Goodies, Dusty Forge, The Plymouth, Yellow Kangaroo, The Crown (College Rd) and The Bulldog again (thank God). Like the Wild West. Outsiders were definitely not made welcome!

Oh god the Crown

I swear it was just a way to keep us Whitchurch types out of Gabalfa as we'd be scared of going down the hill
