FA Rules for colour change?

Tue Mar 18, 2014 10:25 am

Since the FA have stepped in with the name change for hull then i gather there are rulings against name change, does anybody know if there is a rule we didn't know about regarding the colour change? Do you think the FA could step in the same way for us as they did for hull??

Nothing the FA can do about changing the cosmetics.

Colour changes have happened to other clubs before us, Leeds, Luton to name a few. If the FA decided to make it statutory then I do believe they would find themselves in a legal battle with other owners who wish to go down that track.

No the only way this threat can be removed is for an objection from the fans.

Although such a rule would have to be very well written by the lawyers, a rule that requires active 'fan' participiation in any considered crest / colour or name change would, in my opinion be a great move by the FA.

Fan participation would as a minimum, require season ticket holders to be surveyed. However , the devil would be in the detail unfortunately. Would be difficult to define what would get wrapped up in the rule. Clearly us and Hull would be relevant. However if a club wanted to change their socks colour etc if you see what I mean.

Anyhow, can't see this rule happening and it would be too late for us anyhow. A positive stance in the Hull situation however, and well done to their fan groups.

The FA should implement a rule that if an owner wants to change the colour of the kit or badge, the club need to poll the season ticket holders.

It should be a rule where all clubs have an elected fans member on the board. Not just a token member either, one with some sort of veto power.

I think the FA would have noticed by now if there were such a rule.

They have the 50 +1 rule, which basically means every club must be 51% owned by the fans.
