Our fans could learn something from this

This is a very interesting point, but I feel that British fans perspective has changed when it comes to judging footballers. Players tend to be judged on their technical ability more than any other aspect of their performance. What is required by both mangers and fans, is the ability to consistently apply these technical qualities to effect the outcome of a game.
Players like Tevez and Saurez have raised expectations to another level, because they combine superb technical skills with a passionate desire to compete and win and to work hard for the team throughout a game.
The players with great technical attributes but who are labelled lazy such as Berbatov for example, do not compare favourably with these type of players because they make more consistent and more frequent positive contributions to their teams' results.
The treatment of Mata at Chelsea this season underlines the point I am trying to make.
